Ecu on ford fiesta

Driving down the road my fiesta just cut out! engine would turn over but will not fire up! aa said it was crank shaft censor, so changed that but didnt work! so had it diagnosed and they said it was the ecu! changed that and its the same! no spark at plugs! its a 1996 model! please help ime running out of money!!!!

    did you get it sorted just been out to one like this it was the fuel pump fuse blown! number 31 10 amp fuse box under the bonnet near side back of engine bay. Rob.

Yea faults that are intermittent are hard to diagnose, if you are still interested just message back on here as i seen it was posted on jan 11 08.

check for a problem cam shaft censor as well as a crank position sensor as both are required to be operational for the ECM to start the engine

hi could b a number of things need to put a code reader on it and see what codes it has stored on the ecu could b a crank sensor or throttle body or o2 sensor is your engine management light on the dash need more info thanx

When it cranks over does it sound normal or does it sound like you have no compression? You may have a broken timing chain.

L have a 2003 Kia Sorento, sometimes it will just turn over but won,t crank. after a while it will start up. or l can be driving down the road and it will start poping and cut off, and won,t start.it does...


It will be a position sensor problem Check the air gap and check that the censor rotor is tight and that there is no material getting in the air gap causing a problem

you don't have crank signal to fire your plugs is that what you mean if so check for correct power going to sensor and if hall effect or magnetic generating signal sensor in order to determine the proper testing procedure

Plenty of battery power,engine turns,will not start


the best thing to do is have the cpu read for any fult codes it could be some thing like the crank shaft censor playing up or the cam shaft censor but the problem is in the cpu

Truck cuts off while driving down the road.


Replace the TFI module. Ford back in 1986 thur 1993 had problems like the one you wrote about. TFI module gets hot and shuts car or truck off then when it cools sometmies starts and sometimes not.

Cranks but wont turn over


you know. i took it to a mechanic and actually.... The timing belt cut the Crank Shaft Censor... So it was the crank shaft censor again. The wires were routed wrong from the first mechanic that "fixed" the car.
