How to reset the username, password, and network settings of a WD My Book World Edition hard drive.
The directions below detail how to reset the username and password (for the Shared Storage Manager utility), and network settings of a WD My Book World Edition hard drive by using the recovery button on the back of the unit.
The username will be changed to "admin"
The password will be changed to "123456"
The network settings will be changed to DHCP (obtain an IP address automatically).
Please ensure that the WD My Book World Edition hard drive is turned off and all cables are disconnected from the unit.
Insert a paperclip or narrow tipped pen into the recovery slot on
the back of the unit. Press and hold down the recovery button.
While continuing to hold down the recovery button, connect the power cable to the back of the unit.
Hold the recovery button down for at least 40 seconds while the unit boots up and then release the button.
The unit may take up to three minutes to boot up completely. It is
only necessary to hold down the recovery button for the first 40
seconds of this boot up process.
Note: Western Digital
recommends rebooting the computer system after making any network
setting changes to the WD My Book World Edition hard drive.

How do I reset my password?
If you are not logged in to the app, reset your password by tapping Forgot Password on the login screen. If you are logged into the app, tap the Reset Password button or menu item in the My Profile feature.
Note: If the app does not display Reset Password, you have not been granted access to reset your password. Contact your manager to reset your password for you.
If you forgot the password of the router what you can do here is to reset it, to do that look for a small reset button on the back or underneath the router , then use a pen or paper clip to press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds while it is power o.
After doing that power off and power back on the router and you need to reconfigure it back like a new router.
I have tried few tools in the past. In my opinion I would go for Windows Password Reset Deluxe.
It supports all Windows versions,no matter the windows you're is Windows 7,XP,or Vista ect. It's simple and safe.
AS device requires that you downgrade to some obsolete level of security. Doesn't the vendor have documentation for exactly what is needed to make this work with Windows 7?
The data sheet I found seems to imply it's a really old device: "Compatible with Windows 95/98/98SE/ME/XP/2000/NT4.0". you had to reset the drive back to factory default and reconfigure the users and accesses. The HD does not reformat when set back to factory defaults so no data was lost. I wonder how many of these drives have been replaced just because the onboard processor needed to be reset.
Only the LAN Manager Authentication Level Change to Send NTMLv2 to Send LM & NTLMv2 session if negotiated was needed.
Dave thanks the suggestion to do a comparison during that process is when I thought of doing the reset to factory defaults.
If you forgot your password, you must reset your router. Unfortunately this process will change all your settings back to the factory defaults.
To reset the router, locate the reset button (hole) on the rear panel of the unit. With the router powered on, use a paperclip to hold the button down for 10 seconds. Release the button and the router will go through its reboot process. Wait about 30 seconds to access the router. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1. When logging in, the username is admin and leave the password box empty.
Use first the default username and password according to your router's manual. If it doesn't work reset the router. Look for the reset pin hole on the back of the router. Press and hold it down for 1 seconds. After that use the default username and password for sure this time it will work. As soon as you are able to access the configuration page of your router please setup a new WEP key to keep you network secured.
