Question about Washing Machines
I need to know how to remove the agitator
Just to clarify weingpc's response, if you pop off the cap and look in, you will see a 1/2" square socket. Take your 1/2" extension and rachet, drop it in and unscrew it counter clockwise. Pull it out and pull out the next piece underneath, which if you're having problems with the agitator being "jumpy" is the piece you need to replace.

It's probably too late for all the previous posters, but for future visitors I just figured this out. You just have to use the largest size ratchet wrench and back the plastic assembly off. Then the whole assembly lifts off. Then you can lift off the agitator. It was really easy, once I realized the tool I needed was already in my toolbox. Take care!
