Restart the computer using the keyboard "Windows key" and leave the mouse plugged in the USB port. If it has a driver CD, install the software and drivers then restart the computer. Windows Xp should find the new device and make it ready for use. If you are using Windows Vista then you will need to go into your "My Computer" and then "Control Panel" and "Printers and other hardware" and then "Mouse" and click "Troubleshoot" If you are using a Laptop or notebook, disable your touchpad first then plug the USB mouse into port
Just buy a USB wireless mouse. There is a transceiver that plugs into the USB port of the computer, the size of a thumb drive, and it sends and receives signals to the wireless mouse. In my opinion, a wireless, optical mouse is the best. Normally the footprint (size) of the mouse is smaller than a desktop one as well if you choose. With Vista, just plug it in the USB port and windows should install the drivers without any disks. But if it doesn't just insert the disk that comes with the mouse. You only need a driver for it. A driver is a set of instructions that tell the device what to do. Every piece of hardware in your computer has a specific driver. I hope this helps and good luck.
Just uninstall the driver and install it once more and wait for the system to detect the usb devices automatically only after that u must do the driver installation. Most probably the mouse driver along with the wireless driver need to be installed for the proper working of the mouse.
