I accidently dropped my JVC GR-DX100EK camcorder, nothing broke but it is now displaying the on-screen message "E06 UNIT IN SAFEGUARD MODE". I have tried removing and re-fitting the battery but to no avail, is there anything further i can try as i am planning on buying a new SD camcorder soon but i have half a tape of film still to be copied to DVD?

if the screen keeps showing e06 device is in safeguard mode """"please remove or reattach the battery""""" If the error continues, please understand that it is a FAULTY BATTERY. This error is very common and results when the battery life has been changed or altered due to time elapsing. There is not a lot that can be done except to request a new battery. I performed more research on this and found that an equivilent may be purchased directly from jvc.com for a fraction of the costs then replacing the entire unit.
Do you happen to try with another tape? if so, it needs repair, mostlikely the capstan motor need to change and it needs hinger skill to do this, since you have to adjust it after replacing.
I had this same problem, and indeed it was from leaving a tape in the camcorder while in storage. All I did was remove the tape and put a new one it. Solved my problem! Thank you!
Ive tried that but found nothing, hence i`m asking for further help.
