Fatal Error 161-Toner Sensor Error, Color:Magenta
When magenta toner sensor error has occurred

Fatal Error 163-Toner Sensor Error, Color:Black
When magenta toner sensor error has occurred

Both are Sensor errors....You would first check the lock levers that hold the toner cartridges in, if everything is fine with them then you could possible have toner dust on the sensors. First take out the cartridge that you are having problems with, then use a dust off can and carefully clean out any axcess toner that you can see where the toner sits. there is a sensor that looks like a clear plastic or glass eye that reads the cartridges and it sometimes gets dirty.

Just had a 161 error on our 5300 and the magenta cartridge I had just replaced is faulty. There was a horrendous clicking sound on initializing and it turned out that the cogs on the new cartirdge were seized! .. Just another possible scenario - hope that helps!

I had the same problem, it was a sensor in the magenta cartridge. This printer is really good, nice color, glossy. I changed the toner cartridges for compatibles, http://www.imagetoner.com/okidata-c51005150520053005400-c-31_64.html good quality, no problems so far

Sorry the model was on the top... had a brain hiccup :)

Those error codes mean that the printer's ink is not correctly in its place... It is recommended to restart the printer, then try again.

If that doesn't work I would try taking the ink out and putting it back in.

    Regards,

    -Chester

073 fatal error in OKI c3530

Oki ERROR 073 is a H/W Overrun detect. this occurs when the video circuit has set the overrun bit. Restart the printer and check the first print out. Try printing a different job and then reprint the same job that the error occurred. If you get the same error again, try using a different driver, ie swap from PS or PCL whichever you were using to see if that clears the error.
