My rca 50 dlp hdtv won't turn on

Many LED TVs and other electronics have bad capacitors on their power supply boards. You can visually inspect them by opening the TV and looking for capacitors with bulging tops. If you see any, replace them all in the power board section. Check to see if your TV is still under warranty first though.

Your TV is at protection mode. It mean there's problem on it. The indicator provide your information that he detected short circuit or fault circuit. Your power supply and the regulator are working normal. Since you have problem on the other circuit Like Horizontal out the one producing high voltage. Or in the Vertical section This the IC type can have problem on it too. If you know this section you can now assume where will you begin troubleshooting. Occasional problem in the H- out transistor had a defect probably shorted or open or leak. While in Vertical Your problem will one horizontal line if the IC short circuit a call for protection circuit. And Also The Convergence circuit will make power interruption also. If you know this section then you can do it.

Replaced lamp How do I get rid message on tv screen Replace lamp

Hi,
You need to go into the TV menu to the service section or lamp hours section & look for a statement like "RESET LAMP HOURS" or similar. Once you complete the task the message will no longer show. If you can't find it you can email me at [email protected] with your Make & Model # of your TV & I can give you specific instructions. I specialize in DLP & LCD Projector repair but projection TVs use similar hardware.
Good Luck,
Jim

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems to be a shutdown circuit problem, and a problem in the section of the TV that provides High Voltage to drive the raster creating circuitry. Usually the issue is with the bulb going bad however, as you have already replaced the bulb few months back, so in your case this would also be the DLP related circuitry which includes the light engine (white light bulb/Color wheel drive circuitry or LED array, DLP chip and associated circuitry). If you want to do the repair yourself then it is highly recommended that you should have knowledge of internal circuitry of the TV, if not then it is always better to take assistance from a qualified repair tech. The cost of repair will be around $300 including labor if you get it done by a professional.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

TV is showing an error code when I go to turn it on.

The reason the set is not coming on is because the shutdow circuit is doing what it is supposed to do. The TV might be experiencing some sort of current overload which disappears after a time. However if this is the case here is a possible way of troubleshooting this problem. get a schematic and turn to the power supply section turn on the TV and measure the output voltages of the power supply then measuer the voltages in the horizontal section to determine if the HV section which is part of the horizontal section is working properly. I believe that your problem lies somewhere between the low voltage power supply (switching transformer based) and the high voltage power supply (IHVT based). Make sure to check your fuses. Now this is a start, the point is you need to find out if the problem is or is not a power supply issue.
