HI:
If you can test your laptop, by connecting an external monitor to it, that will tell you if it is a screen problem, or a video problem. If you get a good picture on another display, you have a problem with your lcd or inverter.

Hello,

I suggest that you check the connection of the motherboard and your computer's screen because it has something to do with it. Or if resetting the connection won't do anything then I suggest that you let a tech check it.

Move the screen around while on, do the lines disappear when you hold it in certain positions? If so, your LCD needs to be replace. If the lines don't disappear when bending the screen, it could be a broken motherboard as well. Youcan try to open the laptop and check the dc connection. There is a Laptop Repair Guide that shows you how to take apart a laptop, the sony may be made in a similar way. Sony Repair NYC

Have you tried to connect your laptop to external monitor?
If you get normal picture on external monitor, then you need to replace LCD screen, but if you get same picture on external screen, then unfortunately you will need new motherboard, because graphics card is integrated to motherboard.

Are u saying that the video and sound is ok? And that you have a vertical line moving up your tv screen? If this is correct then it sounds like an A/C hum or filter problem. This would be in the powersupply it could be a big cap that needs changing.
