Question about Sony BRAVIA KDL-40S2010 40 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

No image at menu 'digital'

I connected digital decoder (Humax)to the AV entrance (scart cable). I only receive digital tv on the menu at AV1. I don't receive digital programs when I press "digital" (it shows no image)
The analog programs function fine. I programed both the digital as the analog channels, but I can only view the digital chanels if I go to AV1. How can I view the chanels using the menu digital? It shows the chanels and guide, but no image.

I'm wondering where in the mix is your satellite receiver? The recorders currently on the market aren't able to decode digital satellite signals. They are capable of decoding cable but i'm unaware of any that work on satellite.

Put BT box into standby. This is probably due to the scart connection. Try to connect both boxes via HDMI if possible.

I can't get the tv to program the cable connection to watch cable

use a scart lead to connect your cable tv box. then on your tv remote press the "source" button or press the "AV" button, you mainly have the options to choose AV1 and AV2 (AV2 is only available if your tv has 2 scart sockets) make sure the box is on and select any AV channel, you should now have cable tv.

All sound should go directly from its origin to the sound systm. All video should go directly from the source to the TV if it has enough inputs. NO signal ever benefits from unnecessary routing and cabling to or through a device that neither uses nor improves it.

Hint: TV's don't improve the sound or even need it if you have a hi-fi..

Hi,

You didn't fully expain how each device is connected to the others. I don't think you have this set up correctly. Your DVD cannot record in HD so there is no point sending an HD signal to it - it can't process it. This is how I would set it up:

1. Install a 2-way splitter on the input cable
2. Connect output 1 from the splitter to the Humax receiver
3. Connect the Humax receiver to the TV with an HDMI cable
4. Connect output 2 from the splitter to the DVD
5. Connect the DVD to the TV with SCART cable.

This will enable you to watch HDTV via the digital receiver and also provide an input from source (dish/cable) to your DVD player so that you can record.

If you've already set it up this way then it should work. I suspect you've connected the Humax to the DVD and TV and also the DVD to the TV.

Please try this setup and post back if you need further assistance.

How do u turn to scart channel without a remote

Not knowing what model of TV you have, the most common ways are either by using the Source button then scroll to AV1 input or if you have a Menu button there may be a sub-menu for Input, again select AV1 (depending on which AV connector you are linked you maight have to select AV2). If you have a DVD or VCR connected to the AV source, then when pressing play the DVD/Tape should automatically switch over to AV.
