The processor for this note is 1.13 ghz intel celeron, has a 256 mb (sdram) and 20 gb ide, now your saying that it is acting very slow, try checking what is the free space of your hard drive if your hard drive is full and has no free space left better remove un necessary files that you dont need having an full hdd sometimes affect the performance of your note book, then what is operating system that you use? dont use operating system that requires high specs from the notebook, dont use win vista or win 7 if the specs of youre notebook is not that good, better use win xp or winxp sp2

TRYING TO DO A SYSTEM RECOVERY FROM DISKS. GETTING THIS MESAGE: IMAGE ERROR ENCOUNTERED X:\RECOVER\AIBRHO1A.BA\INSTALL>

There's either a problem with the discs themselves, dirty, scratched.

OR cd / dvd lens is dirty: Clean with dry q-tip

OR You've got a bad sector on the hard drive that is preventing restore.

Try restoring the computer with a new hard drive, that's usually it on older machines like yours ;)

Ram upgrade

The best way to find out for sure how much ram your computer could take is to do a scan with the Crucial scanner.
Go to www.crucial.com and click on "Scan My System" 1539d96.jpg

Now you're going to download the scanner. Click the checkbox to agree to the ToS and Download the Scanner.

Depending on the browser you're using, you're going to click "Run" or "Save". I'm using Google Chrome so I only got the "Save" option. Click or double-click to run the scanner.

Allow the program to run if it asks you if you're sure you want to run it.
Crucial gives you a recommended max-it-out RAM config if you wish to max out your memory.

However the pricing can be quite a little steep, so if you just want information about what kind of RAM your computer needs and what it would run best with, the section below carries this information (directly below from the above screenshot).

You can take this bit of information to your local Best Buy or Fry's or any preferred computer store and they can help you with what you're looking for.
Hope this helps :)

HP Pavilion Slow boot up

Well, that's absolutely abnormal. Generally the problem can be caused by many many reasons such as outdated hardware, overload startup programs, corrupt registry issues, too many junks, virus attack, poor security software taking too much system resources, remnants of uninstalled applications etc. The fact is, you should keep some system maintenance job regularly. If you don't want to do these manually, try the hp speed up tool http://www.speeduphp.com/ to give a free & full scan of your slow HP PC to find & fix all possible issues. Regards!
