Does the Nakamichi PA-304 amp have high-level

Does the Nakamichi PA-304 4-channel car amp have high-level input capability? I have no manual. Also, when the amp is off will the high-level inputs still power the speakers through the amp or will I need to use switches?

First off, if you're using RCA preamp connections from the head unit to the amp, you don't need to put anything into the high level input connector. But if your head unit doesn't have RCA preamp outputs, then connect the front left to the white (+) and white/black stripped (-) wires and the front right to the grey (+) and grey/black stripped (-) wires. There is no need to connect the rear speaker outputs of the head unit to the high level input of the amp.

The Nakamichi would be your main channels, so the line out of the Nakamichi would go to the audio processor inputs of the Yamaha, and the original source would plug into the Nakamichi.

First, know that you need either high level input or low level input, but not both. Low level input is preferred (RCA cables). If you must use high level input because your head unit doesn't have RCA jacks, you connect the speaker outputs from the head unit to the high level input of your amp. The high level input plug probably has a black wire, this is "signal reference ground". A pair of grey wires which are right positive (grey) and right negative (grey with black stripe). And a pair of white wires, left positive (white) and left negative (white with black stripe).

There are a number of configurations for a mixer like the 1832, the most common are PA system and Recording system. There are Main output jacks which carry the mix as summed in the main faders. These in a PA system would feed the pa amplifiers which drive the house speaker system for the audience. These connectors are XLR 3 pin type on the rear, intended for professional pa amplifiers which use balanced +4dbv line input level. Amplifier which have 3 pin XLR connectors for input signals can accept that high level signal. For home style HiFi amplifiers, the signal level is nominally -10DBv and balanced or unbalanced signal lines with 1/4in diameter phone plugs which are connected to the mixer by way of a second set of Main output connectors which are 1/4in phone jacks. Use whichever amplifier input level your amp has.
If you are not using it as a main PA house mixer, but using it for recording, the main output connectors go to a 2 channel recorder or computer sound card recorder. The power amp and your monitor speakers are connected to the connectors labeled "Control Room" (CTRL Rm). These output are useful for recording because the signal through the mixer can be monitored from several buses, Solo, main mix, selected by buttons provided. The buttons only affect the signal heard through the control room monitors, and not the main output which only sees the main mix so selecting "solo" does not interrupt the signal going to the recorder while the engineer in the control can be checking other signal paths through the board.

How to connect microphone to Yamaha RX-V365 as a PA system.


Home-theatre receivers don't have microphone inputs. If you want to use the receiver as an amplifier in PA system, you need to use some kind of mic pre-amp or a mixer with mic inputs.
For PA mixer is needed anyway almost every time and all mixers have at least one mic input (with a pre-amp). Mixers have line-level output(s), which you can connect to the analog input of receiver.
Using receiver as an amp in PA has advantage that you have 5 channel amp. When using high sensitive PA speakers (as oposed to less sensitive Hi-fi home speakers), you can get good performance with the power rating of receiver. You could even use 2 separate channels for subwoofers and 2 channels for satelite speakers - but for that you would need a receiver with 5.1 analog inputs and special device called crossover which would divide the output from mixer into low-frequency signal and high-frequency signal which you would then connect to the front and rear analog inputs. But with RX-V365 you can use only 2 channels with analog input

you can just piggyback the mixers - take the outputs from the mackie mixer (assuming it is NOT a powered mixer) ... those should be line level outputs - send them into a line level input on the digi 002 and then set that channel on the digi 002 and once set, just leave it, and control the mackie channels individually ... should work fine ...

The lpf-off-hpf switches control the "low pass" and "high pass" filters. When driving full-range or component speakers the filters are usually operated in the "off" position to send all frequencies to the speakers. When driving a subwoofer, the best position is "lpf". If you have a separate amp to power a subwoofer, this amp can be used just for the high frequencies by putting the switches in "hpf".

Input levels should be adjusted to match your receiver output. You don't want the levels so high that distortion results. But you want it high enough for the amp to be able to produce maximum output. Start at about midrange and adjust the receiver volume to a little higher than a comfortable listening level. Adjust the amp gain (level) counterclockwise until you begin to hear the speakers distort. The turn the control slightly clockwise until the distortion disappears. That's the best setting.

I do not hear any music through my 10" M Audio Subs (M Audio Sound System)


If you know how to use a multimeter, you can test the amp this way:

-unhook the subs
-hook up a cheapie speaker you know for sure works to one of the channels
-unhook the audio inputs
-turn the amp on
-set your meter to VDC
-put the positive probe on the inside of the input connector, being sure you make contact with th inner contact
-take the negative probe and tap it on the outside of the connector

What you are doing is sending a low voltage (replicating an audio signal) into the amp audio circuit and allowing the amp to amplify it. If the amp makes the speaker pop each time you strike the probe, the amp is working.

You mentioned you need a 4 channel amplifier make the two, dual voice coil subs operate. The is not true and by hooking them up like that, there's a chance of damaging the subs. The reason is that the dual voice coils are interwoven and they have to get electrically identical signals or they fight against each other. The can mechanically fail, then, electrically fail, then even damage the amp too.

Channel 2 volume is very low


You can check if channel 2 is blown by switching around your RCA plugs. If you are using the speaker wires as high power inputs you can change them. I.E. swap the left channel with the right one. I assume you checked the gain control on the amp. If channel 2 works with channel 3's inputs then its your head unit or the wiring. If you are lazy take the amp to a car audio store and ask them to bench test it for you. Hack
