Hello sir hi, good day. Phonograph are becomming obselete these days, and most electronics manufacturers now omit the phono input.

You can use your phonograph but you may need to buy a separate phono preamp or audio mixer to be fed on any line in input such as auxiliary or CD in.

If you want you can easily get a phono preamp kit, I think radio shack has one, or visit any local electronic supply store and inquire a phono preamp kit or mixer.

You can also assemble one, here is a website for you to get additional information on the phono preamp. http://sound.westhost.com/project06.htm

Phono input only plays one speaker and receiver shuts down after playing record for a few minutes

are you using a phonograph with a built-in preamp? If so, then you need to hook it up to a different input. Phono input is only for non-amplifier phonographs, otherwise you will over-drive the amp.

Oonsole model with stereo and phonograph, and phonograph will not turn on

The easiest way to find out the issue is to get an OHM reading to see if you are getting power from the switch when you select phonograph. If it is putting out, then the issue is with the phonograph, if not it is with the switch, and you will need to find a replacement.

I have a Califone 1620 model economy classroom phonograph in need

Probably a bad relay switch. Open up the turntable. Identify the motor that spins the table. Follow the wires of that motor to, perhaps, some type of little circuit board with a relay. I have a Backley-Cardy 322-487 classroom phonograph which uses a Califone 1620 amp and a BSR turntable. To get the table to spin, you have to move the tone arm. Mine doesn't move and I'm in the process of replacing the faulty relay that is the problem.

LINE is just another name for auxillary input or output, in other words a port to connect a jack etc to or from an external device.

Why can't I get my regular speakers to work on my turntables?

Yes, you need to connect a turntable to a amplification source. Phonographs send a very low level signal. If you decide to get a receiver/amplifier be SURE it has a PHONOGRAPH input - Many new models do not. If you simply plug it into a receiver without one (and the ground screw) your sound will be unpleasent.

Connect a phonograph turntable to a receiver w/o phono connection

you will need a little box called a pre-amp. This hooks up between the turntable and newer receivers without a phono input. A basic explaination & drawing of this type of setup can be found here

Zenith phonograph turntable spins unevenly

I assume you mean the t-table turns with unsteady speed (?)
Or do you mean the t-table is bent, edge moves up and down in relation to the frame.
If speed is unsteady, have unit completely cleaned and lubricated and replace idler wheel

Phono input

I am not really familar with this receiver but almost all phonograph must go into a phono in. Due to the fact that a phonograph does not have whats called a pre amplifier. generally the receivers have a phono in and that input has an more sensitive amplifier cicuit in the input. That is why if you plug it in to something else unless it has a preamplifier the sound will be real soft. I think Radio Shack sells a amplifier you plug the Phonograph into one side and the other side into the receiver then you can use any input you choose.
