Question about Samsung Sp-H710AE Multimedia Projector

2 Answers

I have a Samsung H710AE, it has the infamous startup issue. It will start to ignite the lamp, and it begins to power on, but then it shuts down and all the lights flash. I replaced the lamp after ~500 hours, and this worked temporarily, but it is now doing it again. How is this fixed? Do I have to replace the ballast? I checked all the connectors and boards, nothing looks overheated.

If the lamp is new and you are still experiencing this, then the first thing would be to do is test the power or resistance of the ballast. It can go faulty. Also, the capacitors on the main circuit board can overheat and swell up and burn out due the lack of air flow or heavy dust.

Sounds a lot like a heat problem; the unit may not be running hot but there may be a bimetal thermal switch that has become fussy.
If you have an electronics supply nearby, they will have 'freeze spray' and if you procure it, you can see if the projector will turn back on if you give it a shot in a vent. Do NOT spray it on a hot lamp; it may cause it to fracture. If this does make it turn back on, you will have to locate the failing switch although the common ones are disc-shaped with two contacts coming from them.

Problem concerns Samsung HL-S5087W. All of a sudden, TV goes through 3 startup cycles and shuts down resulting in 3 blinking lights on front panel. What I've done: Completely cleaned inside of...

Hi,

3 blinking led light at the front panel is an error code for lamp malfunction. If you've already replaced the bulb and yet the symptoms remain the same, then high chance that the fault came from the ballast board because the supply voltage is present.

Confirm if the bulb will lit upon powering on the unit. Open the lamp cover, bypass the lamp cover switch by putting tape to make it in closed position (making it still the lamp cover is attached to the housing) and then power on the unit. Check if the bulb will ignite or will light up, if not, you have to replaced the ballast board.

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

TV turns on for few minutes than shuts down and comes back on for few minutes and shuts down again. can you help me understand where to start

Hi it looks like you have a bad ballast issue or bad lamp this lamps are rated 6000-8000 life hours that equal to 2-4 years of use so if your lamp is around that old it could be that the lamp is burning out but if you have a new lamp and get this issue then the problem will come from the power source of the lamp witch is the BALLAST BOARD that it might not be able to maintain the lamp on I would start with the lamp if it is a old one all ready

Calling for a older friend> ac power outage happened within 30 secs of each other. Now computer comes on and begins startup showing screen but shuts down and starts up all over again and again

Unplug everything, wait a few seconds and retry startup. But it almost sounds like a virus or malware was uploaded into the computer. Also try startup in "Safe-Mode". Hold down key marked "F8" after pressing the power on button.

Replaced lamp. TV does not respond

Hi, do you hear clicking or like a start up sound? if you do it could be an issue with the ballast, that's the board that powers the lamp. Here's how to replace it: http://guides.fixyourdlp.com/samsung/bp47-00033a.php Does your TV make a "whining, whirling, clicking, or humming noise?" If the TV have the infamous blinking lights problem and you're replaced your lamp without success, it's most likely a problem with your color wheel. The Samsung BP96-00674A color wheels spin anywhere from 6,000 to 15,000 revolutions per minute (RPM’s)--It is one of the few consumable parts in your Samsung TV. The average life expectancy from our data logging shows the Samsung color wheels are fairly reliable with a MEAN average of 5-8 years. Here's how to replace it:http://guides.fixyourdlp.com/samsung/bp96-01579a.php Also make sure door cover is properly shut and also reset lamp timer by unplugging tv wait 5 min and plug it back again.God bless you!

Want to change lamp

after you remove the door, the lamp assembly should be right ther with the little wire handle. unscrew the 3 screws and pull the lamp out. if none of that is there, you have no lamp to replace.

There are instructions to replace the lamp in the user's manual. The light comes up but if the lamp has now already several hours of use the resistance of the lamp increases and shut down the power supply of the lamp. Second, the lamp power supply could be bad too, but lets be optimistic and just replace the lamp first.

Either the lamp needs to be replaced, or your projector is experiencing overheating problems.
