5VS69 is a LCD rear projection set---if you have blue or some other color discoloration in some part of the picture most likely you have a damaged optical light engine. This model used two different ones--It is an expensive part as one wholesales for about $550 and the other about 600 not counting major labor to replace. If you have an extended warranty--get it in and fixed. The reason this happens in some sets is the Lamp used for the light source creates a lot of heat and can damage the lens/baffles inside the sealed light engine. Blue is the most common as that part of the engine is usually closest to the lamp. The set shines the light from the lamp into the engine and signal etc is injected and at the top of the engine is a 3 inch lens that projects the picture into a mirror which puts it on the screen. Some of Hitachi's earlier sets are now involved in class action lawsuits as they had a red oval in the middle of the screen--red was first in those models--some Sony and other sets have had the same Sorry I cvannot bring you better news! There is a hazy 'glow' around any bright colors on my screen

If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.
You can search google for parts or you can get the parts with repair instructions from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com

Excessively bright whites...has a haze around any white items. all other colors are fine.

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look white, dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see white halos around images.

Here is a photo of a set that needs the fluid changed.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt lens. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos, step by step instructions, etc.
