I cannot load Web pages but wifi is on. Am using windows 8. What can I do to solve the problem

Wifi might be 'on' but make sure you are connected to a network.

If you are then make sure that any other wireless devices can connect to the internet first.

If they can then on your laptop do the following:

Hold the windows button on your laptop (it looks like a flag) and press 'R'.

This will open a black command prompt window. Inside this type the following:
and press enter

If the result shows it receives 4 responses then you have an issue with Internet Explorer and I would download Firefox browser onto another computer, save it to a memory stick and install it on your laptop.

If the result shows no response then you have some kind of networking issue. Try plugging in a network cable from the back of your router into your laptop and try again. If that works then you will need to try reinstalling the wireless drivers, if it doesn't, then I would reinstall Windows.

Why is my dell d610 not connecting to my wireless connection

  • Check that the laptop's "wireless disable/enable" switch is in the enabled position
  • Check that the computer is actively searching for a wireless network.
  • Ensure the settings on your computer match that of the router, for example, make sure a thunderstorm didn't knock out power which knocked out power to the router, which forgot its settings. If this is the case, you'd need to re-load those settings.
  • Check that the broadcast unit for your wireless, the jetpack or the router, is powered on and sending a signal.
  • Reboot (complete power off and power back on). If the wireless now works, disable your operating systems' power management for your laptop's wireless card.
Good luck

Download and Install the drivers again for the webcam.

You can always download Manycam and install it. Go and in the search box type: ""(without the quotes). Click on the link to go to the site. When thesite opens look down on the left and you will see a gray area that says FindSoftware. Type "Manycam" (without the quotes) in the whitesearch area then hit the search mirror. When it brings back your resultslook for the one that says ManyCam Virtual Webcam. Down load it andinstall it. Make sure you remove the check box on any junky programs itwould like to install. You only want to install ManyCam, no additionswhatsoever during the install. ManyCam is totally FREE and easy to use,and you will always know where your webcam software is.

Hi, i'm also a windows user but i have dabbled in ubuntu, so here goes.
First connect a ethernet cable to the router , you should than be able to open a web browser and input your routers ip address and enter setup.
make sure mac filtering is disabled.
You need the wireless part activated to find laptop.
Just to note i have never heard of a west066 router, I can't find one on google search.

If you need more help , please ask.

Re: Wireless problem

I do not know the brand and band of wireless router you have, but sometimes with wireless G routers, you may need to change the wireless channel you use. (wireless channel = frequency) If anyone in your area is using the same channel, you can get various communication issues (including lag spikes). Pull out the manual for your router and see if there is an option to change channel settings. This is a common problem when people in the same area buy the same routers and they are all set at the factory default of channel 6.

Wireless slows when AC power

I apologize, but I honestly can see no correllation between the two, Possibly you can enter bios and disable ACPI (power saving) since the problem occurs only while charging, The problem with this option is that the load will be heavier on your battery, Worth a try even if only to see if it has anything to do with your problem,
I ask that you reply here and let me know the results

Wireless connection slow

Same problem. RESOLVED it by going to device manager (hold the Windows Logo key near the space bar and hit PAUSE) Click hardware tab, and then device manager. click the plus next to network adapters to expand it, then right click the atheros wireless connection and go to properties. Click advanced, then find the power save mode. click it, then chose turn off on the right.

did this and my wireless is working normal again. hope this helps.
