Question about Acer Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Hi there, my acer Aspire 5100 has all of a sudden decided to lock up the keyboard, mouse pad and usb ports (well 2 of 3 anyway!) a usb mouse is recognised in one port, but still will not move the pointer thingy. (techno kid I'm not!) have followed others suggestions to try fn F6, Fn F7, remove battery and reboot - all to no avail. Please help!

OS loads but keyboard, mouse pad and usb ports

was there any liquid damage? just to check the intregrity of the hardware i would maybe boot off of a linux distro just to check and see if it works that way. ubuntu is free and if you can choose to "try linux without installing" option just to verify. this will let you know if it is a hardware or software problem.

Unresponsive keyboard + mouse pad

I guess you have a mechanical problem, sounds like the mother board have some issues on starting all devices.

If you could use keyboard to go in the bios, and see the screen, if would be the OS that need to be repaired.

Locked keyboard and mousepad on acer aspire 6920G

Almost same problem: the mouse froze.

Found a nice solution at another website: switch off the pc, unplug the power supply cable AND remove battery. Press "on" switch for 20 seconds. Now re-install battery, plug back power supply cable, and switch on. Worked for me (what exactly worked for me I don't know but hey)

Good luck.

USB system is not working

nope..you can try to boot from an installtion cd..but without HI options(Human Interface) you may find it's locked..sounds a lot like the Motherboard went south.

You could try to reseat the memory, but that's a low probability approach to this sort of problem
