Question about Kodak EASYSHARE 5300 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Computer freezes when printer is on

I've been having problems with my computer freezing after I turn on my Kodak 5300 all in one. I don't run the easy shar software that they had it come with. My computer runs windows XP and there's about 37 GB or something on the hard drive with 32 GB being used which I think works out to 15%.

When loading the printer it froze before the completion. Although, the printer appears on the desktop and when the printer is turned on I have about 5 minutes (give or take a little and it varies) before it freezes. I've been able to print and then it freezes. I have also been able to scan but it only works once before it freezes.

I thought at first I just needed more space on the computer so the printer could do it's thing because I originally only had 13% free space. Anyway, I'm not that computer savy and I don't know what else to do. I'm hoping there's a simple fix.

My computer's insides have been all dusted out so that isn't the problem and I can run Adobe Photoshop without problems. But this printer being on makes my computer crazy.

The printer does work after the computer freezes. So I am able to cancel jobs and turn it off.
If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated.

I had this problem, and the only way to stop it, was to uninstall all the drivers for all of the other printers and scanner that had been previously attached to my computer. That and three system restores and 5 reinstalls of the AiO software, that has yet to install the Home Center or the Help files! I can't customize the printer but I can use it now through WIndows programs.

Did you install the Kodak software before connecting the printer to the computer? http://support.en.kodak.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/36460/selected/true has the software for Windows.

This error usually means that you installed the generic driver from the OS which only runs printer. Uninstall the current driver, disconnect the data cable (USB) and then restart your computer. Install the software from the Kodak site above. Then connect the data cable when prompted to do so. Try scanning after completing the installation procedure.

If you did install the Kodak software, it may have gotten corrupted. Please follow the above directions and let me know if you have any problems.

This is a software software error, have the Kodak Home center remove form the Control Panel, Add Remove programs, then run the clear utility from www.kodak.com/go/clear follow the prompts there, then reinstall the software using the disk or from the web, this is the link www.kodak.com/go/5300downloads

I have the Kodak 5300 All in one easy share printer. Less than a yr old. Also a Del computer with Vista Operating system, Less than a yr old. About a week ago decided to take the time to learn the kodak...


try using the system restore option on Dell computer.........as you have vista,,,click on the start button and type system restore in start search box and follow the on screen instructions and select yesterday's date and proceed.......should help:)

I cannot scan on my easyshare 5300 It only scans halfway and then freezes. We have Windows Vista. Is that the problem?


NO . It should not be a VISTA problem as it has a VISTA driver available. Have you tried reinstalling the software and driver?

You need to update your Kodak Easy Share and your printer drivers or try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers .

The reason you are facing the problem is because the present drivers are not compatible with Publisher

The manual for your printer is included on the CD that came with your printer. It is provided in the PDF format, so you will need an Acrobat Reader to use it. This is a very common software package used by hundreds of millions of computer owners. If you do not have the program on your system, you can get the latest version by going to the following web site.
