Try reseating the fan power cord on the motherboard. If that doesn't work try replacing the fan.
If it still doesn't work then you PC has suffered some damage when the fan stopped working.

If you are using Xp
Use the Desktop Cleanup Wizard to remove shortcuts that you don't use from your desktop. The wizard automatically runs every 60 days, or you can start it yourself whenever you want.
Put them back if you wish by clicking  and dragging them from  the  programs menue and that wil creat the icon on the desktop.

Wireless adapter not showing up in network conections, icon

This happened to me when I had to install a wireless router in my house using my laptop to initialize the network for the first time.
The start up software messed with my settings for wireless detection on my laptop. It turned off the automatic detect for wireless networks in the
"Wireless Zero Configuration"
(This has the settings for the 802.11 wireless adapters
i.e. the one that comes with the R4000 presario)

to get to this hit start>run...
and type in this:
%SystemRoot%\system32\services.msc /s

go to "Wireless Zero Configuration" and enable automatic startup
, if the service is stopped, start it.
hit the apply button to save your settings.
