How do you get the prop off when the screw dr. slot is gone.

How do you get the prop off when the shaft slot for a screw driver slot, is wron out and you cannot get the nut to turn , because the screw driver cannot stay in the slot of the shaft? T he shear pin is broken the armature turns and the prop doesn't. Already tried turning on motor in reverse with a wrench on the nut, the nut does not move because it is partially rusted onto the shaft.

Where is the prop shaft located?

Your vehicle doesn't have a PROP shaft. Yours has a drive shaft. Prop shafts are normally on 4x4 trucks and refer to front drive shaft. What trouble are you having with the cruise control?

Prop spins when out of water but when i put it in the water it slows down to a slow creep

yes very common, have you hit a rock as some stage or maybe it is wearing out but as soon as some pressure goes on the prop the shaft will spin normally but the prop is now no longer held to the shaft correctly hence your problem. Check it by marking the prop and shaft with a straight line then put it in the water, take out and check your mark they probably wont line up anymore. Solution...get a new prop. I have a different way to get these fixed but it is not recommended I drill a self tapping screw into my props just until it hits the drive shaft then stop just enough pressure to keep to stuck to the drive shaft

Need to chang foot oil in 2002 mercury 125 horsengine 2 stroke

Foot oil is now called the G/box oil
On the lower part of the bulge is a screw and above it ,just under the cavitation plate,is another. They look the same.
Undo the lower g/box screw.Undo the upper screw.Let all the oil drain from the g/box.Check and/or replace the washers on these screws.Critical.
If the g/box oil is cloudy white or grey, the prop shaft seal, needs replacing. If not, proceed.
The oil comes in containers that have tapered noozles.Cut the noozle to fit the screw hole.
The oil HAS to be squeezed into the bottom hole untill it comes out the top hole. You then replace the bottom screw. This prevents air bubbles in the g/box.Top screw is now put in.Job done.
Now is a good time to take the prop off and regrease the prop shaft.
Hope this helps you

I cant seem to figure out how to take my prop off my minn kota trolling motor. there is a plastic nut and a screw in the center of it. they both just turn. ive used a screw driver to turn the screw and...

I had the same problem tonight. I wound up getting it off by appling a diagional pressure to the prop. That held the shaft screw. Then my Dad turned the wing nut with a neddle nose pliars conter clockwise and it came right off.

My problem and probably yours too is once inside there is a pin holding the prop to the shaft that was broken. I don't know how to get the new pin back in since it is inside the prop with no access from the outside.

How to remove the prop

there is a plastic nut that screws onto the prop shaft and needs to be unscrewed. there is also a metal pin that goes through the shaft that needs to be in place and in the right position when you replace the prop. make sure you clear out any fishing line etc that may have collected behind it when you change props.sually recommend you put a little clear silicone grease on the parts as you assemble them as well.ake sure you disconnect the power leads from the battery while your doing this to avoid injury.

Prop shaft. You have to remove the bearing housing cap. reference number 70. Remove the bearing housing. reference number 60. The bearing housing will need to be pulled out buy using a puller. If it was in salt water it can be difficult. Pull the prop shaft and clutch dog assembly.

Have 2hp evinrude junior. Shear pin broke today. Have taken prop off but am not sure how to refit another. ?! Where does it slide in???? Was it one long pin to begin with? Does the inside of the prop screw...

You can use a nail to drive out what remains in the shaft. The pin is one long pin and sticks out of both sides of the shaft. The prop rides the T the pin makes. You should see a slot on the rear of the prop. I usually keep 4 pins in my fishing box all the time.

The prop will turn on my minn kota endura 44 but it has no power is there a shear pin on this motor

Odds are you have sheared the pin (slides through the prop shaft) holding the prop, or you have damaged the slot on the prop that the pin sits in.

Prop is secured to the shaft with a metal nut, or flat plastic wing nut. Remove the nut to remove the prop. You may have to pry, slightly, the prop from the motor housing. Removed, you will see a whole in the shaft where a pin should be located. If the pin broke, it probably hit the floor when the prop was loosened. If the pin is intact, examine the rear side of the prop and look for damage to the plastic slot where the pin would sit making contact.

If you've snapped the pin, you can make a replacement with a nail using a hacksaw. Replacement pins can also be ordered from Minn Kota. If the back side of the prop is damaged (recess for the pin to sit), the prop is toast. Replacement props are often carried by Walmart, and include a new pin.

If neither part is broken, perhaps the prop was just not seated on the pin correctly allowing the prop to freewheel.
