If it is new fromt the factory, you many have the natural gas (methane) jets in the burners. You will need to check your bag of parts to find the propane parts (LP parts). LP jets allow a different fuel/air mixture to burn at the right heat. Check the owner's manual for details how to make the change.

Please rate me - Good luck.

The stove is on a 2004 boat - I assume the stove is original. The burners light, but it just took me ages to boil a cup of water in a sauce pan with the lid on. Do old stoves lose their efficiency?

Gas stoves don't usually loose heating efficiency. Check that the gas control is allowing it to go from low to high. Being LPG, there may be a pressure problem. LPG have a regulator on or close to the bottle. Being on a boat, I would get a competent / licensed Gas Tech to check it. Better to be safe. LPG appliances on a boat can be very dangerous if not serviced or repaired properly.

Why do burners not get hot? After rehooking to electrical power, due to a remodel, the burners don't seem to heat up as hot as they used to. Cant boil water on any of the 4 burners.

Could be not enough voltage on your 220.lines ( one wire lose or a bad breaker. or the wires are hooked up wrung causing it to try to operate on 110 instead of 220

It would be very helpful if you could give a model number off the unit so we can know exactly what we are diagnosing.

GE gas range on propane, using propane jets, the burner regulator knob has little effect on heat output. Is this a gas burner valve issue?

You also need to set the regulator to LP. The symptom described is an indication that the regulator is still set to natural gas. The manual should tell you how. As I remember, there is a cap on top of the regulator that is removed to allow access to a retainer that needs to be turned over so the "LP" is facing up. Check your manual or look it up online

1 burner flares and sputters

Hello. Chances are that something on the stove boiled over or got poured into that burner. take it off, soak it overnight in water with dishsoap added, then rinse it and let it dry before reinstalling it. Repeat the soaking in soapy water if necessary until the flaring, sputtering and black soot is gone. regards, Joe

Find you a GASMAN to resize your orifices. He will have special drill bits to do so. If I were there I could do it for you.

Kenmore smooth top - cooking problems

Smooth tops take a little geting used to than a coil top range....Make sure you have good flat cookware. NO GLASS COOKWARE. (ie vision ware.) Once the burner is set to high, it has to heat the glass, then the pot, so it does take about 2 min loger to boil, If you want to simmer, then i suggest bringing the item to a rapid boil, and then cutting back the heat to below the 1 on the range. and adjusting from there. All smooth top glass ranges do work in this manner. Most people can adjust to the switch, but not everyone can. there really is no problem with your range. BTW i work at sears, and i am surprised that no one helped you.
