1 Answer

This tv was given to me in april. it looks like its dated. its a HUGE floor model type, like right before plasma came out. at first while watching, the standby light keeps blinking. now the picture will show for a couple of seconds and redness starts to come from the top of the tv to the bottom and there is no picture. what do you think the problem is and is it worth fixing?

The main board. The main board controls everything and they are only design to run so long on hours. I had to replace mine about year ago, and now if we want to watch tv we watch it on a 20" if it is a reruins or nothing on. We only have ours on if there is a special to watch or watching a dvd movie.

How set up TV given by friend not using anymore? Don't want to use as computer...just TV.

If it is an LCD monitor it will not have any cable input or components to watch TV. Look behind the monitor to see if there is any cable input if it does have it than you can watch TV if not you will need a computer.

Which board to replace first? Samsung plasma TV model number pn60e530a3fxza. Screen black/has sound. Menu does not come up. Picture went out while watching. Fuse is ok and no bulging capacitors.

As far as audio is OK; the main digital board works perfectly. Check the sustain boards. Cannot predict which one has the fault. you have to check and find it.

Only the right side of my Panasonic Plasma TV (TC-P50UT50) is displaying. The left is is black with some white flickering lights. Sound and video on the right side are perfect.

Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement.

60"lg plasma mfg. date sep

Sounds like a capacitor blew in the power supply, particularly for the high voltage side. Then the power supply shutdown altogether. Sorry, but you will have to contact a service center or manufacturer for repair. Given that tv is 2 months out of warranty, the manufacture may be willing to help as a courtesy, but don't expect full coverage.

Dear welcomejee, I have a Sony Grand Wega 60" LCD, owned since June 2004. Model # KF-60WE610; Date of manufacture- April 2004. Recently while watching TV, the screen turned black. No picture....

The lamp is an arc type lamp an as such has no filament.
Look again as I expect there will be a different reason for you lack of sound/vision.
