Lightly scuff the plastic a little ways out around the broken piece. Put some vaseline on the back connector and slide into place. Mix up some JB weld [or similar] and pack a little ball against the area that needs reinforcement. Keep smoothing and packing until it firms up. Let dry, and pull the connector back out. There ya go.

My garmin won't come on. I leave it in my truck pluged in the the cigarete lighter all the time. The green light on the cord is on but my garmin won't come on. Do you have any suggestions.

Hi dave,

Many times these units left hooked up for a long time, especially in a hot vehicle, will cycle out completely and need a total reset. Assuming your unit is still good and battery is ok, with power on the unit, the green light shows it's still charging the battery. Try the reset button in the recessed hole, usually on the bottom of the unit. Press it in with a blunt object for about 10-15 seconds. Some manuals say 6 seconds, but I always like to "overdo it", just to be sure.

If you still can't get it to power up, try holding the Power button on for about the same time as the reset procedure. Hopefully this will wake it up. If not, you may need to get with a repair facility or see about sending it back to the factory for service.

Let me know if I can help you later. Thanks.

Regards, Bill

Two year old #200 unit. Plug seems to come loose

yikes! unfortunatly it sounds like you will have to send that back into garmin for repairs. for loose parts inside they are the only people who are authorized to repair it. Unless you know someone who is good repairing electronics
garmins website will give you a flat rate repair on what it costs to fix it.

Garmin repair for screen

I'm afraid that will have to go back to GARMIN for repair... they use fully custom LCD displays, as to all other GPS manufacturers.

Regarding the "guest" who's tagging along with a different problem...

Have you tried a hardware RESET? The button is hidden behind the front panel, which snaps off by a fingernail slot located directly under the GARMIN logo on the front panel.

* Use caution removing and reinstalling the front panel... it's somewhat fragile... wiggle it a little to get it off.

Press where it says "Press to Reset", hold for a second or two. Charge the unit with the car cord or USB cable, then try to turn it on again.

Once you can get the unit to (hopefully) turn ON, you should run all updates (there may be several!) using Garmin's Webupdater. (Connect to computer with USB cable first.)

Hope this helps!!

I have a Garmin Nuvi 760. The end cap which screws in and holds the fuse in for the traffic receiver power cord is broken. Anyone knows where I can get a replacement part without buying another power...

This is a known problem with the 760 traffic receiver power cords. Call Garmin Customer Service (you may stay on hold for 20 minutes or so). When someone answers, explain the problem and they will most likely send you a replacement screw cap and fuse assembly for free.

Garmin C330 resets itself

The first problem with it powering itself off is a battery problem. Your battery is not hold a charge.

The second problem with it powering itself on with the power cord attached is a power cord issue. The unit is suppose to automatically power itself on if a power cord is attached to it. This is Garmin way of turning the unit on when you start your car. Most auto cigarette lighter will cut power if the ignition is off, and restore power when the ignition is on.

Garmin uses this to turn the unit on and off. If the unit was being powered by the the cigarette lighter then it say unit is shutting down in 20 seconds after the power is cut.
