ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS TO COMPUTER If your photos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.

The USB drive is recognized as an ordinary hard drive with a letter, easily seen in Windows Explorer. Use drag and drop to copy and paste what ever you want including photos or music, any type of file, no software, program od driver is necessary.

Download and copy the photos and save them in a folder in your computer, and preferably save them again in another folder on a CD or DVD or an external hard drive. Once you are sure they are saved, format your card and it will be empty and ready for shooting. There are several ways to download photos. By a USB attached to the camera and the computer, or by using a USB card reader. Your photos will show in Start/My Computer/ And as a volume such as E: or D: click on that and on folders inside till you see your photos. Try Picasa's Import function.
