The camera itself has a very handy Help Function (let say a mini tutorial) Of you have a question when you are in the menu of the camera. Press the '?' button

How to connect nikon D80 to laptop by continuing take a picture and downloading to laptop

If I understand your request correctly, you wish to control the camera via laptop, Nikon offers "Camera Control Pro 2" that can do just that, and more. It can be purchased at many camera stores, some software stores and online stores as well. Additionally, it may be downloaded from Nikon directly for $180. A link to the product page is below:

I hope this helps.

RESET Find the two buttons with green dots next to them on the top right of the D80. They are the +/- * and AF * buttons. Hold them both down for a few seconds. The top LCD blinks and everything is back to normal.

Surprising. I can only think that the camera may have caught some condensation if you took it out from a cold place to a warm place (e.g. indoors). You can try to dry it out by putting it 24 hours in a dry box then try again. Also, make sure you are using Nikon batteries when testing it out. Generic batteries are known to die out suddenly after only a few months of use.. and especially if they are subjected to extreme cold

Hi and welcome to FixYa.

I could go into a long disertation about your camera settings and what you should use, but I should let Ken explain it. I read this a couple of months ago (because I love photography too)! He has some good ideas, tips, tricks and really has the D80 dialed in. You can read it here.

Good luck and have fun with your camera.

Love my F3 but ready to go digital....

Hi!
I think if you want to keep it fun and easy you won't go wrong with a D80. All considered, it's a competent package compatible with the autofocus lenses you may have for your F3. If you can spring for it, a D90 is much more appealing.
As for your F3, I suggest you keep it. There's nothing like the clack of an analog SLR.
Hope this helps!

arnabajit, Are you looking for a price of a new D80 or a kit (camera with a couple of lenses) because it's going to vary based on what you want.  If you are looking for used and that's what you need prices for try some classified or online bidding sites.   Reliable camera shops and stores are really your best bet if you establish a relationship with them and they understand your camera needs you will be better off in the long run, not that you can't get a good "deal" but you can get help in choosing the right camera for your needs. randy320sgi
