Question about Canon PIXMA MP530 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

No yelllow on Pixma MP530

I have used about 2 cycles of compatible ink cartridges from Ebay and recently the yellow stopped printing. I have cleaned and re-cleaned, replaced with original cartridges, but no luck so far. Any clue anybody? (probably printhead?)

    Thanks Soulvisitor,
    Mmmm, too bad.
One (actually two) questions more then; I can't see very well the actually size of the part, but I assume there is only 1 printhead in the whole printer and not a printhead per colour?
Secondly, is it difficult to change myself or does one need special equipment? And if I can do it myself, is there a manual to be found somewhere on the Net?

Thanks! Will give it a go then, the price doesn't seem too bad. Now let's see if I can find it in Spain :-)
Of course I will rate, I was just waiting for the last info

Head removal....Give it a go, open your cover and remove the inks from the head, right behind the ONE head is a 4 " long fantastic plasic (blue i think) locking clip at vert obious from memory, just lift it up and head can be removed, just lifts out.

No screw drivers. no tools, just fit the head, clip the clip, insert real! ink otherwise your going to be right back with a blocked head again, then run auto alignment

Re cant see? The size is about actual and if you look you may see where and how many inks fit in it. Sorry for poor quality pic.

Thanks for bothering to rate so many just take help like it is owed to them.

I'm trying to use refilled ink cartridges in my Canon MP530, but I get a V (or U) 130 error message. Any thoughts?

An ink tank that was once empty is installed.
Replace the ink tank.
Printing under the situation may damage the Print Head.
Canon shall not be liable for any machine malfunction or damage caused
by refilled ink tanks.
If you want to continue printing with the refilled ink tank installed, press
and hold the [Stop/Reset] for at least 5 seconds, and then release it. Using
refilled ink tanks are memorized.
* This operation will release the function for detecting the remaining ink

i am not sure but is working on 520
1. print mono or print color for color
  1. Switch the printer OFF
  2. Press buttons 1 + 2 + 3 and 4 (simultaneously using four fingers)
  3. Keep pressing this four buttons for 10 seconds
  4. Release the On/Off button (number 4) (Keeping pressing the others)
  5. After a few seconds (when the printer go ON) you can release buttons 1, 2, 3
  1. Maybe step "c)" is not needed
  2. This procedure was used when I refilled the Black cartridge - try using the ColorCopy button instead of BlackCopy button (number 1) if you refill Color cartridge.
  3. Maybe there is no need for all the four buttons - you can try 1 + 4, 2 + 4 or 3 + 4. (or 1+2+4, 1+3+4, 2+3+4)

This Canon MP530 will print a nozzle check with no problems. It will color copy with no problem. No ink cartridge lights are on. It will not print a report or copy in black. What's wrong?

On your nozzle check, do you see the grid at the top (indicated by red arrow in picture below)? If you don't see this, your pigment black nozzles aren't working. The black bar at the bottom is from the dye black nozzles (small black tank). You may have either plugged nozzles or a bad print head.

Printer will not print

I assume you are using 'compatible' Cartridges ?

Many people have reported problems with the 'chips' (especially the Yellow one) you have to move from the original to the 'compatible' set .

If you are feeling rich, you could buy a set of genuine Canon cartridges, however that's going to cost you over £50 with no guarantee of a fix .. you might want to shop around for a new printer instead - you should be able to find the MP530 for about £150 ....

I am in the same situation. When 'Check Ink' comes up, the yellow cartridge blinks.  If I take it out and put it back again, the printer will work.  Then after a while on idle mode, the problem will show up again.  Pretty annoying.
