Question about JVC MX-D602T Shelf System
In a 3-CD changer system, the top (#3) tray gets stuck sometimes and will not open. When this happens, the other two trays also get stuck and no trays will open even though the mechanism is attempting to do so. If the power gets turned off and later turned on (next day or so), the CD's will play and all three trays can be opened and closed.
This problem first occurred within the last month of use with no previous problems. The system was manufactured September 1998 and was purchased new.
Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

this could be a power fault, but first check the power plug if it is in contact with the power socket and if it is then you have to open the back cover of the system to check the fuses if blown resistor, capacitor and transistor with the use of a multimeter to check for back component and if bad replace faulty ones.
Then power on to confirm, if not on then take it to the manufacturer or a skilled personnel to handle it

SOURCE: I have an old JVC
There are two possibilies for this faut. The first one is related with its Laser Pickup Unit, and the second one is related to its loading mechanism. If loading mechanism did not load disc properly to to the holding disc drive motor, disc wont play, and will be ejected as it enters into the system. i don't know, how old your system is, and how much it used so far. Anyway try first by inserting a head cleaning disc into the tray and play it for two of more time. if this does not help you try replacing the loading belt. You have to open your system to do this work. Loading belt can be located at the loading mechanism, fastened with its loading gear and loading motor. If this also does not help you, there is no other way than replacing the laser Picup Unit with same type and number. To repalce either belt or laser pickup unit, you have to open and disassemble the mechanism itsef to do the work. If you are not aware in electronics, and not so experienced in doing this type of work, get help from an other who knows these well. Most of the [90%] of components used in this section are made of high density plastic, and can be damged easly. If any wheel in loading gerar mechanis has broken teeth with it, also will poise this probelm. So it also should be checked.
Anyway you have to open and disassemble the mechanism as a whole. OK
