This is a tough one to solve.... outdoors is a harsh environment and bulbs often don't last long. Several things lead to premature failure. One is the fixture is getting too hot , use lower wattage bulb. Two - do the math if the bulb is on 8 -10 hours a nite..... doesn't take many days to kill it. not sure about those average hour life ratings. try using those flourescent bulbs those last a long time and use less juice.

Who does the left headlight keep failing on my 2002 toyota sienna?

Make sure you are not putting the bulb in with your fingers not protected. The oil from you fingers will create a hot spot and cause the bulbs to burn out quicker then normal. If not, I would check the voltage to the bulb and make sure it is correct.

Do I need to order the housing with the lamp after burn-out?

you can order just the bulb then install that in your housing. Being careful not to touch the new bulb with your bare hands as the oils from your finger tips will cause the lamp to fail prematurely.

Have a 2006 Chevy Silverado. The left brake light keeps shorting out. Turning light OK.

check the contacts in the socket itself, with the newer tail light and brake light bulbs and the thin wire they use for contacts, any dark or slightly burned areas will cause the bulbs to burn out prematurely

How do you replace the passenger side low beam head light bulb on a GMC Sierra K 1500?

You have to reach down behind the lamp assembly and twist the back of the bulb out. It is a little tricky to reinstall. Be sure not to touch the bulb on the new lamp. The oil from your skin makes the bulb burn out prematurely.

My Hitachi 60v710 HDTV does not come on and when in off position lamp lite is red and when on lamp and led blinks red and power blinks blue what is wrong and can I fix it myself

Did you say the lamp blinks red? I assume you meant the lamp status indicator light. That probably means the lamp is burned out. Take the lamp assembly out and inspect the bulb. If you see a visibly burned capsule or broken wire inside, that's your problem (you don't need to remove the lamp from the assembly to inspect it, and don't touch the lamp itself - see next paragraph). When you replace it, be sure you clean all of the vents in both the front and back of the set. Dust-clogged vents will cause a bulb to burn out prematurely, or even explode. You may need to remove the back cover (unplug first!) to clean out a dust filter for the lamp cooling duct.

You can save money by buying a bare bulb and rewiring it into the lamp housing, but be absolutely careful never to touch the new bulb with bare fingers - the contaminants from your fingertips may cause the bulb to explode when it gets hot. Wear disposable vinyl gloves (the kind restaurant food handlers use) for this job. The gloves may be included with the new bulb.

Set a regular cleaning schedule for the vents. How often depends on how quickly the dust builds up. Just don't let them get completely covered with dust.

Head lamp keeps burning out. replaced head lamp at

You either have a bad ground or the bad electrical connection at the light socket is "simulating" a bad ground. This is putting a high resistance on the bulb and it's taking it's toll by burning out the bulb. I would start with a new socket, and CHECK the ground. If you still have the issue, I would run another complete ground wire and not even worry about checking the ground itself. the Stick

TV turns off..lamp light flashs

I have one of these. It sounds like your projection light bulb has burned out & it needs to be replaced. Last time I checked (2 years ago), they were about $200. They are not hard to change if you are handy. Follow the directions, do NOT touch the bulb with your bare hands, use gloves or the oil from your hand will cause it to burn out prematurely. If you are not handy, call for a repair person.

How do I replace a fog lamp in my 2003 GMC Sierra hd

are you talikn about just the bulb? or the whole light?
For the bulb just unplug wiring from the back of the bulb and twist bulb and pull, do not touch the bulb of the new light the oils from your fingure will and can cause the bulb to burn out premature

the entire ligh has two pop rivets one on each side remove those. there is also an adjuster knob remove the knob and the spring pull the light off and replace with new.. you may want to mark the location of the adjuster knob so that on reassembly you know where the adjustment was for proper light position

Bulbs keep burning out

When you replace headlights in today's cars, DO NOT TOUCH THE GLASS OF THE BULB!. Handle the bulb only with the packing material the bulb ships in, or with a clean dry cloth. The oils in your skin will cause premature failure of the bulb.

Also, check the sockets (car side) carefully to make sure they are not burned.

Open up the lamp there is a clip that holds the lamp in place, replace the old one with the new one.
Be carefull and do not hold the bulb on the new one. Hold the bulb with a tissue. The nabody oils will make the lamp burn out prematurely.
