Question about Hotpoint RGB528 Gas Kitchen Range

I followed all the directions in converting from natural to propane gas on my stove and range. The oven works well. However, at any given time one or two of the top burners switches from the blue flame to a hissing yellow flame. What do I do to fix that?

How do you purge all the air out of the lines?

  • savvyrebel Jan 04, 2010

Neither has worked at all. It now has burned a hole through the burner and only burns yellow and uncontrolled flame

Usually there is a rotating air inlet on the gas tube to the burner. It is typically held in place with a small "set" screw. Loosen the screw slightly and with the burner lit, adjust the air flow for optimum flame. Good luck...I hope this is very helpful.

I've just converted my stove from natural gas to propane and the oven and broiler flame are both to high, how can I lower them?

When converting from natural gas to propane you have to switch the regulator to propane. then on most modern stoves you have to turn the orifice hoods down to adjust for the higher pressure of propane. there are some stoves that you have to purchase a propane conversion kit with different orifices for the burners and oven burners.

How do I know if my Caloric Heritage gas range is propane or natural gas? It is a used stove that was given to us

Stoves are usually sent from the factory set for natural gas. they have to be converted to Propane. If it is set for propane the flame will be very low on natural gas. If set for natural gas on propane the flame will be very large. The orifices for natural gas are much larger than propane orifices. and the regulator is converted acordingly.

I have a Frigidaire Stove, Model # FGF316ASA. It was changed from propane to natural gas. The oven works well. The burners, however, will only burn a low flame. Is there a solution for this?

When converting an appliance from propane gas to natural sometimes a technician will drill the orifice to a larger size rather than replace the orifices. Either way is fine, but sometimes the orifices don't get drilled to the correct size. The regulator must be on the propane setting if it is a convertible regulator. If your oven is working fine.... the top burner orifices probably need to be checked that they are the correct size. A simple fix.

My new gas stove (propane) is releasing black soothe when lit. All the pots are covered in this black powdery like substance. Whats the problem and how can i fix it. It's really costing me a lot to clean .

All gas stoves are set up for natural gas. Before using on propane, the oven and burners need to be converted for propane operation. Refer to the installation manual for conversion requirements for your particular stove.

Propane coversion of kenmore 790 gas range

Most gas stoves are shipped for natural gas .You need to check the orifice on each burner to see if they are for natural gas or propane. If you ordered propane the stove should have been shipped with the orifices. They may be in a bag with your stove documents.

GAS RANGE

Msmaytag it sounds like the oven wasn't converted properly if at all to propane. If you look at the bake burner while the oven is on you should see very little yellow on the flame. If you see mostly yellow, try adjusting the air to more open. This will changed the air/fuel and may resolve the issue. If not, follow the directions for converting to propane and see if the orfice hood was either replaced or tightened down. I am not quite as familiar with the maytag is why I ask you to follow the directions. The issue with propane is that it runs at 10wc instead of the 5wc of natural gas. So double the pressure, you need more air to thin the fuel. Hope this helps.
