First, you have to know if there's a missing device driver (sound, display, etc)from your laptop to view all of them: from your desktop (using Windows XP) right click on My Computer icon choose Properties, Go to Hardware tab click Device Manager, you'll find a ( ? ) mark for the missing device, the solution is to install your Display Adapter driver if you are looking for a video controller, so you should have your CD driver for your laptop. in HP Laptops you can download drivers from www.hp.com, from Dell Laptops www.dell.com/home/laptops,
