Oh, I see how this site edits things now. The only way I know to do that is placing an air lock in between. If you can get a 5 gallon bucket with a lid and install 2 pipes into it. Run one to the vacuum and one to the pipe. eventually you will draw water into the bucket, but as long as you don't let the bucket get full, it won't draw water into the vacuum.

Troubleshooting dyson

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sure we can help get your DC50 up and running as normal again. The best place to start is our online Support guide - it will walk you through each troubleshooting step, and help you to locate and remove any blockages: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc50/dc50-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usualdc50

If you haven't washed the filters recently, this should also be done. We recommend washing both filters at least once a month, using cold water without detergent. Allow at least 24 hours for both filters to dry completely before replacing them.

I'm confident that checking for blockages and giving both filters a wash will restore full performance. But if you'd like any further advice after giving this a try, please give our experts a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

I shampooed my carpet, loaded clean water twice and added the cleaning solution. Then it dawned on me, the carpet is wet and there is not dirty water return. What am I doing wrong?

Look for a place where the dirty water reservoir is not sealed. There is air being sucked in somewhere else instead of the bottom where it's supposed to **** the water.

I just had the same problem, the vac wouldn't suck in. Turned out to be because the filter was WET. It works great when I take the filter off before sucking up water or liquids! Not sure if this applies in your case, but definitely something to keep in mind. : )

My Hoover Floormate series H3032 won't suction wet or dry. I have thoroughly checked the hose for clogs or cracks and there's no problem there. I notice the float never closes but just hangs down...

Check again that the pipes aren't clogged. Check all the way through from where the muck goes in to where it's supposed to end up, paying particular attention to places where the pipe narrows, goes round a bend, or changes material.

Check the machine doesn't just need emptying.

Wet/dry machines usually have some sort of float operated stop valve to stop you flooding the motor when you've filled it with water. Make sure this isn't stuck shut.

Check everything from the impellor right back to where the muck goes in is airtight. It doesn't take a huge hole to lose you a lot of suction. Pay particular attention to places that are meant to come apart routinely, and places where hoses join to hard fittings. If in doubt, run the machine and listen for sucking noises.

If there's a filter between the fan and the air outlet (there usually is) make sure it is clean

Assuming the motor is running, check it is turning the fan impeller.

Hopefully, one or other of these will get you somewhere

Blowing warm air

Is there a part missing on the front of the dirty water tank? On some of these machines, there is block that you take out so you can insert the hose in its place. So if this spot is open, then it can't suck and will be blowing warm air.
