Question about Panasonic DMR-E50 DVD Recorder

1 Answer

Corrupt discs If recording a program each week, after around 3 or 4 weeks halfway in to disc I get a message "bad disc please check!!!!" recording stops and unit goes into recover mode making disc unusable, small padlock is locked and can't be unlocked( Disc will still play in unit but not finalise) this has happened alot on DVD-R discs I was told it is because I take the disc in and out to many times so have tried  recording and saving on sky+ then recording them all in a continuous run leaving disc in the player this has been better, but still happens now and again, I then tried Panasonic type 2 RAM discs in a cartridge, still it happens. All disc are new and scratch/finger print free does it on cheap and top range discs. I also have a second machine that has just started to do this as well my local agent said the drive unit has gone down and needs to be changed.

Has now gone completely wont even play pre-recorded discs now.

    Think laser has gone.

A new head is about £40

Is it pos to change the laser head without expensive kit.

ie: just swap it and hope for the best or does it need fine tuning?

I finally solved the problem stuck it in the bin and bought a new one thanks for the help but drive was a write off....

Found the same model brand new in Currys Managers Clear out for £50 no leads no remote no instructions. (Still had all this stuff) bought as seen, had it 10 months now and no probs.

Two in ten discs usually are corrupt out of the box unfortunately. Try a different brand. As for it coming out in 4:3 or 16:9 try the settings on your SKY box. This should work.

Error message can't record on disc

Hi,
I would try to burn at a lower speed. If this doesn't work. Try to burn the cd but don't finalize it. If this goes through fine then try to finalize the cd.

Disc indicates "disc full" after only a couple minutes of recordi

Brand of disk or bad laser alignment can cause this. if you have changed brands of disks go back to the others and if you have not then laser alignment is the most likely cause and can be fixed by a certified technician in this field.

Unless you've been unlucky and had two bad discs in a row its probably the camera. have you tried resetting the camera and trying again?

Won't Read blank disc!!

I my DVD-HR735 wont recognise any discs at times, and is getting worse. I've now discovered (out of frustration) that if I tip the front up to between 30-45 degrees, it will play all the discs it says were unreadable. I've started jamming three dvd boxes under the front of the machine when i want to play dvds.

Check to see if you are using 16x media.  If you are you need to get a firmware upgrade from Toshiba.  Contact their support number listed inside of the manual.  They will ship you a dvd to insert into the unit.
