Question about Kitchen Ranges

2 Answers

Hello; I have an AirKing Valecia 755 range hood. I dissambled it in order to remove a birds nest and clean. When I reasseblem and installed the hood, it now does not function. No fan or lights. I checked the wire configuration and it is ok. I visually see a fuse anywhere that may have been tripped or blown. Any Suggestions? Thank-you Stephen

    Hello;

    The green/yellow is ground. I have it connected to the copper bare wire. Wires from the hood are green ( ground), blue ( hot) and brown (neutral) the corresponding wires from the wall are white, black and bare copper. I have is connecyed as black---Blue, White---brown and Green/yellow--bare copper. I even change the wires to be the oppsite ( i.e. Black--brown, White blue) still no change.

    Thanks

    Stephen

    Hello;

    Could the wire break or disconnect thateasily form the wall?

    I have used a multi-meter to test resistance but not volatge. How does one do this. Change the dial to volatge and the touch red probe from multi metre to hot(blk) wire from wall and blk probe from multi-meter to white(neutral) wire from wall and then see what the reading is. Sould be around 120Vac?

    Thanks

    Stephen

Hello Stephen. Don't you hate it when this happens. OK. There is no fuse in the unit. Therefore, check your electrical panel and look for a tripped breaker or a blown fuse. Also, revisit the spot where the house wiring is connected to the hood. Disconnect it there and use a test light to see if you have power that far. Chances are that is where the problem is. A loose connection, or a broken wire. Good luck.

Check to see if the green is your ground,it should be,if it is,on the ground on the hood,then switch it to either black or white wire.

    Is it possible that the wire is dead ?It may have come loose from where it connects in the wall,either test the voltage coming out of the wall,or disconnect it,and use a old extention cord,and hook it to the cord,and plug it in a known good plug outlet,to see if the hood will actually come on,if it does,then there is no power on that group of wires coming from the house.

How to get rid of lice on small birds

No idea of your country but a 20Second google search revealed this;
To remove lice, it is recommended to use a mild pet insecticide, such as "Nuvan." After spraying the plumage, wait for 2 - 3 minutes and then gently ruffle the feathers over a white tray or plastic sheet to collect the lice which fall from the feathers.
I found that one great way to remove lice and mites from your birds is to sprinkle Sevin Garden dust under their wings and tail, and on the back. Check the birds the next day and if there are still lice present, repeat the process, as needed. I found Sevin dust [active ingredient: Carbaryl (1-napthyl N-methylcarbamate)] equally effective in getting rid of red mites.
Avian Insect Liquidator is another way to get rid of mites, lice and other insects in the birds' environment. This all-purpose insecticide from Vetafarm contains a water-based insecticide that is harmless to birds but effective against insects.
Prevention:
Sanitize and treat the birds' environment (cages, perches, aviaries, nesting areas, etc.). Secondly, allow your birds to bathe daily. Most birds enjoy doing so and if you provide them with a shallow clean dish, they will usually be happy to bathe without encouragement. Some birds like to be misted, or even sprayed. Sprinkling Sevin dust underneath nest bowls and around nests will eliminate all kinds of insects.

Thread keeps tangling on underside

Called thread nesting or bird nesting.

Install a brand new needle that is compatible with the thread and fabric you are using.
Remove the top thread totally from the machine.
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread the top thread from the beginning.
Confirm the thread path is correct.
Retest your machine.

Nesting thread on bottom of fabric

This is called bird nesting or thread nesting. It occurs most often because the thread is not seated completely in the tension disk.

Remove the top thread from the machine.
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning.
Verify the thread path is correct.
It also may help to use a brand new needle.

When I sew I have thread bunching up underneath the fabric, I've changed needle size, thread, bobbins and cleaned out around the bobbin holder. I'm frustrated and out of ideas.

Susan--
Easy peasy, once you know the problem and how to fix it. It's called "bird nesting" or "thread nesting" or what I refer to as thread "barfs."

Install a brand new needle.
Remove all the thread from the machine.
**ALWAYS RAISE** the presser foot and rethread the top thread.
Verify the top thread path is correct.
Install and thread the bobbin case, make sure it is correct.
Set the top tension to the midway point.

Now retest your machine. Birds nests gone? You may need to tweak the top tension because the factory standard changes due to age and use.

FWIW, problems appearing under the fabric are an issue of the top thread. Thread problems appearing on top of the fabric is a bobbin issue.
