Question about Compaq Presario M2000 Notebook
It Sounds like The Screen has a short in it! Or maybe a COLD solder joint, twist it back an forth and see if it comes back, if so then that is what is wrong, or dos it happen when you open and close it, in this case sounds like the cable strip from the screen to the mother board,
Either way sounds like it will need to go to a shop.?

Testimonial: "thanks for your help. Strangely tyhe problem seems to have gone away."
Usually that means the lcd is going out or the GPU has a problem. When it finally does I'd recommend a new laptop. Or u can fix it for 100 or less locally...but laptop prices have dropped so much that it's probably best to put that money towards a new faster system that has a warranty in place.
