Re: "rebuilding library"

It happens also with my zen. I think that this device has some fabrication failures. The problem for me is that I live in Colombia and the waranty dont apply.

If you know how to solve this please write the solution in this blog

Resetting does nothing!!!! just back to rebuilding library and freezes again!!! nonstop circle

maybe use up all the battery life (until it won't even turn on any more) and wait an hour or two, then turn it back on... just a suggestion

Zen player mosaic crashes re-building library (uses flash memory)

I've been having the exact same problem. No matter how often I reset it it still becomes stuck on the rebuilding screen. I was thinking I may just copy all of my music onto my computer and then do a complete reset on my Zen and copy it back but I don't want to go to all that trouble if there is an easier way to fix it.

Sony walkman NWZ-B135F doesnot turn on properly.. When turning it on 'Walkman' text appears and '.......' is appearing. after that no action.tried resetting also, no use

First guess. you have a large library and just added something. it is rebuilding its index

Second guess: you have other files than just music on here. it is rebuilding the library and has to scan all the non-mp3 files. Mine takes about 2-5 minutes to boot after adding / removing files

Creative Zen Rebuilding Problem (Freezing)

Hold the reset button with a paper clip AND the play button at the same time while flipping the power switch. The ZEN should go into recovery mode. You probably want to do format all but you can try the different options. You also may need to download/update the firmware here.

Creative Zen Freezes on Rebuilding

My Zen locked when I turned it on. It wouldn't play the track the screen was on so I pressed the reset button and turned it on again. It was then still locked on the same track so I tried turning it off which then froze as it was shutting down. After another reset it went through the rebuild screen then locked again. I then used the above fix (pin in reset, then hold play and power switch down). Taking me into the kind of bios screen I formatted the contents. Then added my library again. It's now working fine.
This is the second Zen I've had because the first one had the same problem so I took it back without trying to fix it. Both times the problem occured when I had my Zen plugged into my car stereo auxiliary jack whilst switching the ignition on in my car. I can't understand why this would cause the problem but I'll avoid doing that in future.

Creative Nomad Zen Extra 40 Gb

I think the problem was related to the id3 tagging, but i wasnt able to conclusively determine that. I had to uninstall the nomad explorer, and reinstall it. That didnt stop it from happening again, but each time the same solution worked. Then the thing crapped on itself furthur. It would turn off then back on, and say it was rebuilding the library. Then it would turn itself off midway through that, and start over. I removed the battery, and put it back in. The thing made it all the way through the rebuild of the library, then just had a little icon on the display saying firmware problem. The solution was a firmware upgrade. I had to hold down the play button while sticking a paper clip in the reset. Then a menu came up and i selected reset OS. It deleted the OS, and re-upped one from the file i found at the creative website. The problem recurred at least once, and the solution was the same each time. It never lost any content while going through this rigamarole, but i did lose some hours fggin with it.

if it keeps on rebuilding the library the disk had a bad spot on it try going in to recover mode and do a clean if that doesn't work do a format if that doesn't work download the latest firmware if that doesn't fix you will need a new hard drive or flash drive.

Rebuilding Library to Firmware Problem error...HELP

try downloading the
MP3 player recovery tool from Creative's website (the tool contains the latest firmware update available -- 1.15.03). Plug your ZV+ into your PC, run the program and let it update the firmware. Then format, reload your music and try it.

By the way, before updating the firmware, let the battery have a full charge, ok?
