Hello; I have an AirKing Valecia 755 range hood. I dissambled it in order to remove a birds nest and clean. When I reassembled and installed the hood, it now does not function. No fan or lights. I checked the wire configuration and it is ok. I visually do not see a fuse anywhere that may have been tripped or blown. I have turned the breaker on and off to no avail. Any Suggestions? Thank-you Stephen

F3 on a GE / Hotpoint microwave means you have a shorted membrane keypad.
On this model, the membrane keypad is not available as a separate part, so you would have to order the control panel frame assembly which comes with a new keypad.

It's actually a pretty easy do it yourself job.

A video is available here showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

If you have any trouble getting the grille off once the screws are removed, slide the hood vent grille to the left about 1/4", then then pull it forward. On some models there are L-shaped clips that fit into a slot to hold bottom of the vent.

Next, disconnect the keypad strip as shown in the photo below, then remove the screws that hold your circuit board in the old frame.

Then carefully (since the display is made of glass) move your circuit board to the new frame, and reassembly is the reverse of disassembly.

The part number to order is WB07X11054 and you can get it from the Pros here.

We replaced the light in the hood (over the stove) and there was a spark and now neither the hood nor the microwave works. We reset the circuit breaker but it did not fix the problem. Do we need a buy a...

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid with a one year guarantee.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

This can often also affect the exhaust fan, cooling fan, turntable, and/or inside light operation, too.

Details of our service are at our Web site, along with a video showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

If you prefer, you can order a new control circuit board and install it.

Ge spacemaker xl-1800 microwave shuts off if used longer than 3min.

That would be model "JVM1540SM1SS".

This is due to overheating of the magnetron.

Attached to the magnetron is a thermostat, which opens to interrupt power if the heat gets too high. Then when it cools, the thermostat closes, restoring power.

An overheating magnetron can be due to:
  • operating oven without cover(s) in place
  • wrong magnetron installed in oven
  • an old or otherwise failing magnetron
  • cracked magnetron magnet
  • improper power line voltage (should be 110-125VAC)
  • foods low in moisture (popcorn & bacon, e.g. - add 1/2 cup of water in rear oven)
  • failed or inoperable cooling fan or hood vent exhaust fan
  • deteriorating foam weatherstripping seals in air ducts or on outside cover
  • blocked air vents (dust, animal nest debris, insufficient free air space behind & around oven, etc.)
  • clogged or greasy charcoal filter or grease filter
  • blocked duct in hood vent exhaust
There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

Can i install an external blower outside to boost

Possibly so.

I'd first check to be sure the grease filter is clean, the duct work is not clogged, and the outside vent is not home to an animal's nest.

We have an LG LMV1640DB1 over the range microwave. When we boil anything on the stove with the fan set on HIGH, the steam just goes up the kitchen cabinets and the microwave is completely wet. Is this an...

Maybe, but your filter may be clogged, or your outside vent outlet may have a bird's nest or mouse nest in it.

If you're venting to the outside, you would be using a grease filter. They should be washed in hot soapy water every six months or when they get dirty.

If you're not venting to the outside, then you should be using a disposable charcoal filter. That cannot be washed, it must be replaced every six months or whenever it gets too dirty.

Refer to your installation manual and/or owner's manual.

If for some reason you don't still have yours, you should be able to download your LG / Goldstar manual here.

If not, you can download a similar one there or contact them via that page to order one.

Whirlpool microwave oven mh7155xmb0 not venting

Possibly a bird built a nest (swallows) in or on the roof vent. Make sure the fan turns freely when off. Check the vent tube that goes up to the roof--if flex-tubing, it may have collapsed and pinched off the air flow (it may be too long). Make sure that a one-way valve which should be near the exit of the hood is free to move when air flow pushes on it. This valve is supposed to prevent back-flow of air into the house. Hope this helps!

Venting

If this microwave has vented outside in the past then most likely a bird or something has built i nest in or on the vent blocking airflow. If its always been this way then in order for this model to vent though an exterior duct the blower motor has to be flipped so that it blows upwards and a vent connector needs to be installed. This is a fairly easy process once the microwave has been taken down but can be dangerous because there is a capacitor that holds 4000 volts that can discharge though the cabinet if you're not careful.

Condensation betwejn the front door glass

This would require disassembly of the door panels, which is not recommended unless really required.

You can download the installation guide to help you troubleshoot and correct your venting issues. That should be priority one.

It may be a clogged filter, a bird's nest in the outlet, etc. etc. Failure to vent can cause control panel and keypad trouble if it continues.
