I did think that to start off with, but If it was over heating surely it wouldn't restart straight away again. I can see that the main cpu fan is running but can not tell if the other is as i cant get the base plastics off the laptop. I have removed all the screws and keyboard but something still seems to be holding at the back. Is there a manual that will show how to dis-assemble & re-assemble it that I can download from anywhere ? I have tried searching on google with no luck.

Thanks for your help, putting it back together afterwards isn't so much of a problem. Its getting it apart to start with thats getting to me.

You don't need to take it all apart to get at the heat sink.
Take the strip off under the display (slides too the left to unlock) remove the keyboard. You will see a metal plate that covers the fan. (the fan is fixed too this plate. Remove the plate and the heat sink is underneath. You will probably find the fins are packed with lint. If you take the heat sink out be careful of the display cable that is bent around it and regrease the cpu when you replace it.

Probably....overheating. Maybe....the CPU fan or chassis fan(s) need to be replaced. Or...perhaps...the thermal sensor on the Motherboard is failing.

There is probably some screws that attach the LCD hinges and or top cover panel to the chassis. As for a manual, I wouldn't know where to start. You might try using an egg carton to keep screws organized or draw a simple rough sketch copy of the screw holes, label them and tape screws using scotch tape to each corresponding hole.

How do I access the 2nd memory module in a MID2020 laptop

There is usually a plastic cover piece for the memory sockets. Usually, you just have one screw to take out to access it. If you take it by any computer shop, or Best Buy, they will be glad to show you where it is.
