fuel should never be coming out of the air filter. do you mean the pipe that goes from the engine to the air filter housing? if so thats the crankcase breather pipe and you shouldnt be getting fuel there either. if you have fuel coming out of the air filter housing then you carb is probably flooding and will need stripping and the needle vale and foat looking at

Have a 26 hp craftsman lawn tractor model 917276081 when I lower blade to engage loses motor power starts cutting out please help is my motor blown?

First of all, is there an air filter on the motor? Second, what does it look like. How long has it been since it was changed? Limewise with the oil. I would run a compression test on it-it's a pressure guage with a hose attached.that will have a threaded fitting to screw in the spark plug hole You set the guage on the closest spot where it'll stay. Turn the engine over a few revolutions. Whether you turn it over 3 times or 30, it will give the same reading. If it is below 60 lbs pressure, the motor is worn out. Especially with a dirty air filter. You can put another set of standard rings for that model of engine or...just go get a new one! Haba. Hope i helped

Looking for the part number of the air filter on craftman edger model # 53685648

On the Sears Parts Direct, they show no air filter. I would recommend taking the filter to a small engine shop so they can match it up or just go to Home Depot and match it up with one of their filters they may have in the lawn and garden. Lowes has a small engine section too, most of their stuff is Briggs and Tecumseh. Here is your parts diagram, with no air filter shown.

I have an old Craftsman 6.75 hp walk behind

Not sure where to look for the model number. But here's a few things to check.
1. If the gas is old (from last year), drain it out of the tank, carb and lines and replace with fresh. Gas can go bad and won't ignite properly after it has been around too long.
2. Replace the spark plug.... sometimes they look good and aren't.
3. Clean the Air filter. Take the filter element out of the housing and give it a good cleaning with compressed air. If it's plugged up with debris and dust, your trimmer won't run.
4. Make sure the oil level is correct. Many of the current motors won't run if the oil is low.
hope this help ya

I recentley bought a Craftsman 4.0 HP mower at a yard sale, tested it before taking home and it fired right up. It did run a little rough so I replaced the air filter & spark-plug. Once again it fired...

You need to disassemble the carburetor and spray the with carb. cleaner. Make sure all small debris is out. Ckeck any gaskets for signs of ware. If they look bad, replace them; your carb. could be sucking air if so. Also check the fuel filter to see if gas is flowing through it.

Weird under load symptom briggs 17.5

a couple other checks would be to dump the carb resevoir where the float is, water under the float could be accumulated and closing the fuel off, due to density. out here on the farm we never use the gas to the last drop from the can. also the linkage between the motor fan blade, (govenor) might have been connected to the carb incorrectly. or a bad switch interlock on the mower blade.
some briggs motors are hooked wrong straight from the factory, where the throttle linkage is concerned. ( and the little spring is pretty hokey too)

Replace air filter on Craftsman 3000 garden tractor

the "baffle" that looks like half of a funnel goes on the stud with the open end up, the orange rubber hose goes on the stud to hold the baffle in place, the air filter then goes on and is supposed to be held on with a wing nut, then the outer air filter cover goes on
