I have an electric range that I purchased in 2003 that made a loud pop and flash last night during baking. After the stove popped the lights went out and I could not bake or cook anymore. Does anyone know what could be the problem and how to fix it?
Thanks
Ok cory it sounds to me like your bake element burned in two looks like someone is running an electric welder when that happens more than likely you breaker tripped open your oven door and look at the bake and broil elements see if that's the case then reply but don't rate me till were done please

Thank you for your post, friend!
I understand that your Frigidaire range made a loud pop while in operation and lost power. I noticed you stated that the stove top is working and you have changed out the control board but the oven is not working. It could be a possibility that your terminal block or wiring harness has shorted. I would recommend contacting a professional technician to come out and perform a diagnosis and repair on your range. This will help to avoid any unnecessary part purchases. I hope this information is helpful. -Matt

Good Morning Stephanie - Typically you may locate the model and serial number in the storage drawer, on the right side. Based on the symptoms you are describing, you may either have a communication error from the main control board or a faulty bake and/or broiler element. If resetting the unit did not solved the issue, at this point I would personally contact a professional to accurately diagnose the range to determine the root cause to reduce the risk of unnecessary parts.

The same thing happened to our 2003 frigidaire electric range last night, when we were using the broiler. There was a pop and a bright glow. We quickly turned off the oven. Now, there is a burned out spot on the broiler coil.
I just had this happen to my stove. What was the outcome of your problem?
Heard a loud pop and then nothing! Except the light bulb in the oven still works! Any thoughts?
