Usually, video cards for laptops are built in to your motherboard. So it means to say that when you want to upgrade your laptop's video card you need to replace your laptop's motherboard as a whole. This process is expensive I should say.

Hi paperchap
You didn't mention in your post what problem you're having. If you can post that it will help.
In the meantime,I looked into your card for some general information. It's not really designed as a gaming card, but FSX isn't that graphics intense either.
When you installed the card did you install drivers from the disk or did Windows recognize the card and use it's own drivers?
Either way I'll give you a link to the newest XP drivers from Radeon. You should download and install the driver, the catalyst control software is optional.
Let me know what the problem is,and if you download the drivers and that fixes it would you please rate my post?
Post back,I'll help out with what I can.I run FSX quite a bit.

Can i upgrade radeon 7500 on my on compaq evo laptop to 8500

You can upgrade to any card, as long as it fits in the case and has the same connection to the motherboard. You can either post the model of your laptop, so I can check the cmpatibility, or try to find those two out yourself. I hope this helps, Yannick

Will intel D101GGC support ATI Radeon 8500?

yes, before you buy video card

verify first the interface slot available on *********** board (AGP,PCI or PCI Express)

then select the video card with the same interface in *********** board

verify the video cards driver if compatible to your operating system

before installing the video card update your BIOS to latest version

When I bank right or left with joystick the screen Freezes

To check the joystick isn't the problem, go into control panel game controls, then check that the joystick appears and you can move the cross-hair around on screen, most modern joysticks are
auto-calibrating, but you could try running the calibration.

To check the game isn't a problem, unplug the joystick, then use the arrow keys to fly the plane, if it doesn't crash when you bank then it isn't the game.

I assume the game is Combat Flight Simulator 3, as very old games that were written for Windows 95,98,ME series often won't run on Windows NT,2000,XP,Vista as they are completely different versions of Windows. If this is actually Flight Simulator 3, you may need to consider buying a later version of Flight Simulator (FSX is the latest version, but may not run on your laptop).

Other things to try are updating the graphics card driver.

Norton shouldn't need deactivating, although it could cause problems if you're playing online.

Also remember that laptop graphics cards are never as powerful as desktop graphics, and games very rarely specifically support laptop graphics.

Hope this helps.

Please i am having Gateway Laptop 600 ygr with graphic card ATI Radeon 7500. I want to improve its 3d performance by running grahics more than 64MB or improving with acceleratedx. Thanks frank

Unfortunately with this model laptop the graphics card is not upgradeable. If you are attempting to do 3D graphics you will want a higher end laptop with a higher end processor and video card. For high end laptops that will perform much better for this use I would check out http://www.alienware.com/ for their line of higher end laptops.

ATI x800xt Graphics Card freezes when playing 3D Games like flight simulator

Greetings,
Usually that happen once the resolution of your monitor cannot meet the desire need, it depends the kind of monitor that you have even if you change different kind of video card, its still happend.
Try to change the resolution to lower one.
Here's the step
1. right click on the desktop ( a place where there is not icon on your screen)
2. choose properties
3. then settings
4. adjust the screen resolution to lower settings some on the color setting
5. then ok.
Thanks.

Upgrading of Graphics Card

Sorry but cant see the picture u have posted as its so small.

Whatever the spec is there shouldnt be a problem upgrading to a 8500 or even higher card.
There are cards higher up in the range that are now relatively cheap and will far exceed the perfromance of the 8500 agp card.

A good and cheap upgrade would be something like a 9800xt

here are a couple of sites showing performance of cards

http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=238&card2=36

http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics_2007.html?modelx=33&model1=740&model2=741&chart=318

The main problem with a higher spec card will be wether your psu is capable of powering it. If you open the pc case up the psu should have details on the side of it. Please list what they are along with the make.
