The display on my Amilo Pro V2030 is black after it fell on the floor. Does this necessarily mean that the display is dead and needs to be replaced or external monitor used? Could the problem be fixed in...

May be a loose connection, at best, at worst, HDD damaged, etc., etc., etc.. Does it boot? Fan spins? LED's Blink? Sound? Anything? If you connect a External Monitor does it work? There are cable at the bottom and rear of the monitor that can come loose.

HOW TO USE AN EXTERNAL MONITOR

Hello,

Your note book has a serial port at either of the sides or at the back just below the screen. It is rectangular in shape.

The cable from your external monitor will fit in to this port perfectly. connect it and power your monitor and Notebook. You should get a display on your external monitor.

Cheers!

HP Pavilion dv5003cl won't turn on after small fan falls on it.

If the fan fell directly on top of it then it could have destroyed your lcd display. Power down the laptop completely, plug external monitor into vga port on laptop, power on laptop. If you have video on the monitor then you would likely need to replace the screen. If you send it in to get fixed it will cost a lot of money. You could do it yourself if you are comfortable with that type of thing.

Laptop malfunctioning

Connect any Desktop monitor to the Laptop and check whether the Display. if the display is fine on the Desktop monitor screen then it can be identified as the Laptop screen malfunctioning.
And if the Display has the same issue that on the Laptop screen
then it can be treated as the Display card issue.
However, it seems to be Harwre related issue. Get the laptop veriufied under Technical supervision to repair the Laptop's display card or the Laptop screen to be replaced if the display is fine on the Externally connectd Monitor.

Monitor hibernation.

Any key! This may help if its a display setting problem:
Fn & F5 simultaneously, cycles the display output through the 5 modes. (hold the Fn key down, and press the F5 key, press it again, give it time to change before you press it each time)
the 5 modes are:
1.built in display only.
2.built in display AND external monitor.
3.External monitor only
4.built in display and TV
5. TV only
*note: Internal display resolution must match external display resolution, and that resolution must be
at least 800X600, or higher
