Your defrost drain is frozen or has algae blocking it its at the back of the freezer behind the evaporator cover. You can see it without removing the evaporator cover. You might or might not see the drain hole because of the ice now you can sit and poor hot water on it till it thaws then get a thin wire and run down the tube till its clear or sit there with a hair drier and thaw it .But if you don't mind a small investment ill tell you the best way to deal with it .Go to Lowe's or some where like that and buy you a eureka model 350 hand held steamer.Trust me it will be one of the best investments you'll ever make. You will find 1001 uses for it besides this and the steam will not damage your refrigerator and all the attachments make it very useful.remove the evaporator cover and take the steamer and melt the ice under the evaporator where the drain pan is. Then you will see the drain hole.Put the curved tip on the steamer an start clearing the drain hole now when you get it melted enough to where the curved tip makes a seal around the drain hole let the steam build then hold down the trigger till you hear it at the back of the refrigerator and your done put the evaporator cover back on then think of all the other uses for that steamer now I told whirlpool about it they tested it and now have it posted on their web site that will fix it easy. I hope this is good enough for a four box rateing lol

My Maytag MZD2766GES is leaking water to the bottom of my freezer, which, when it get alot starts leaking all over the floor. where is this coming from?

Hello,

The water is from the melted frost of the defrost cycle. The drain at the bottom of the back wall of the freezer is blocked so instead of the water draining into the pan where it will evaperate,it's pooling on the freezer floor and freezing, in many case when the floor indent is full the water will leak onto the floor.By pulling the refrigerator out from the wall, there will be a tube behind the service panel on the right side when looking at it from the rear, that tube can be removed and cleared, then clear the nozzle it connects to inside the freezer.

I hope this helps you to stop the leak,
Gene

Defrost water not draining into pan under unit. Instead the water is sdettling in the bottom of the freezer, freezing and eventually leaking onto the floor.

You have a defrost drain that is plugged. You will have to locate the drian and clean it out.Try looking in the freezer side way back and on the bottom. Also you may be able to get to it from behind the refigerator.Hope this helped.

Ice keeps forming on the bottom of the freezer - like a leak on the back side flows into the bottom toward the door.

When a refrigerator leaks water like yours, it is common for the problem to be nothing more than a clogged defrost drain. When the unit defrosts itself, the frost melt water drips into a pan underneath the evaporator in the freezer, and goes through a tube from there to the bottom outside of the unit. Since the water cant go down this drain, it backs up on the freezer floor, then eventually the kitchen floor.

I have the same problem. Water from the defrost coil is not running out the outlet, but freezing in the defrost "catch" pan and outlet tube. Once water freezes, then water from subsequent defrost cycles, runs into the freezer floor and eventually out to the front or side. I don't have a permanent solution, but you can take the inside panel off with the four screws and see the problem. Chip out the ice dam and clear pathway with very hot water. I have read that lowering the freezer temp may prevent. Open to new ideas or permanent solutions. Good luck!

Ice is forming on the bottom of the freezer (Kenmore).

Self-defrosting refrigerators dispose of the water generated during the defrost cycle, usually via a tube or channel that directs the water to a pan at the bottom of the refrigerator. From the pan, the water normally evaporates. (See a more detailed explanation of this in the How Things Work section of our website).

If the tube or channel is clogged or obstructed, the water backs up and leaks into the inside of the refrigerator/freezer compartment. Then the water builds up at the bottom, inside of the refrigerator/freezer. When the water has built up for a time it may spill out of the front of the door opening. To fix this problem, clear the drain tube or channel and allow the defrost water to flow down to the drain pan.

Samsung Fridge Freezer leaking water

hi August.
Cause: A blocked defrost drain is one of the most common causes of water leakage. This happens when food particles or other debris clogs up the drain hose, which can lead to ice buildup and, eventually, water leaking out of the freezer and refrigerator.
3 common refrigerator problems you can easily fix yourself

The freezer drain hose will drain the defrost water into a drip pan at the bottom of the freezer. When this pan becomes full, it will leak water onto the floor. This is a regular maintenance task whenever the freezer defrosts. Empty the drip pan during the defrost cycle.
How to Fix Water Leaking From the Bottom of Freezer

Why is my fridge leaking water on the floor? If the refrigerator is leaking water it's possible that the refrigerator has a clogged or freezing defrost drain. If the defrost drain freezes the defrost water will overflow the drain and drip down to the bottom of the compartment, If enough water accumulates in the bottom it can run out onto the floor.
