Question about JVC KDAVX44 Car DVD Player

1 Answer

Accessing music files on ipod is SLOOOOOOOOOW!!! Any way to trouble shoot? I have 5th gen iPod video with current firmware. I've tried to reset the unit and JVC says I should send it into their service center. I would love to avoid that hassle. Any tips? I mean SERIOUSLY slow.

It takes forever to go through my catalog. Say you want to just listen to a particular artist/album. It will take you minutes to just get through the first couple letters of the alphabet. To go from A-Z it will take at least 1/2 hour. It is ridiculous. I'm essentially handcuffed to just shuffle my ENTIRE catalog and hope I get songs I'm in the mood for.

The ipod is not the issue. It is the firmware/software for the unit. JVC has neglected to address the issue and deny there is any problem. THey want me to ship it to a service center. Couldn't just upgrade the firmware/software??? Instead, they discontinued the unit for a new model. Awful customer service.

Dutyguy:
Even though I personally love JVC products they are not known historically for their customer service. It's even worse now with the economy as they have scaled back their customer support in the US. It's almost impossible to get to a person and not just a voice mail.
Your only solution is to send your deck in for them to update the firmware on the deck. They don't even allow dealers to do this 'unlike Sony products'. Has to be done by the factory.
Unfortunatly they are not the speediest in repairs either. Make sure if you send it in to get a cost and a Case # as they are known to loose products.
Sorry to share the bad news.

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

iTunes limits access to the files and PC. Try Winamp. It is more universal.

Hi crazyecat13...

According to Apple, if you have forgotten the code, you can unlock the IPod by doing the following:
Connect your IPod to the primary computer you use it with (the first one IPod synced with), and open iTunes.
When you disconnect iPod from the computer, it will no longer be locked.
If you can't unlock IPod using either [the code or connecting it to the computer you use to manage its songs]. . . you can restore your iPod to factory settings using iPod Updater. Please note that this will erase all data on your iPod.
Afterwards, you can add your music and data back to your iPod.
If you want to change the primary computer that your IPod is associated with, do this:
1. Restore your iPod. WARNING: The restore process cannot be undone.
All of your songs and files will be deleted. Always make a backup of your important data.
2. Connect your iPod to the computer that you want to be the primary computer.
3. Open iTunes and synchronize.
Apple also notes that company "representatives cannot unlock an iPod if you forget your combination. If you can't unlock your iPod and you don't have access to the primary computer, your only option is to restore the IPod, which will erase all music and data."

While in the folder of the iPod accessed from "My Computer", go to the menu bar and go to Tools--->Folder options while in a folder and make sure that "Show hidden files" is checked. If it is not, check it and apply the changes. On some models of the iPod, the music directory for the music is hidden.

If the above does not work, you can try the program "iFunBox". It is a file program for the iPod Touch and iPod Phone, but may also work for the 5th Gen Nano since they were made close to the same time period, assuming the file setup and compatibility is similar.

Have a great day!

How can I use JVC AVX810 with Iphone? Currently IPOD works fine with the USB cable but IPHONE is not recognised. Maybe there is an adaptor that can solve it?

JVC KS-PD100 iPod Interface Adapter (257KSPD100, sold separately). This optional iPod Interface Adapter supports audio playback for the following iPod models - iPod click-wheel (3rd gen), iPod photo (4th gen), iPod mini (1st/2nd gen), iPod nano (1st/2nd/3rd/4th gen), iPod video (5th gen), and iPod classic (80/120/160GB). The KS-PD100 is not compatible with the iPod touch (1st/2nd/3rd gen), iPod nano (5th gen), or iPhone (2G/3G/3GS). This iPod interface will also not charge the iPod nano (4th generation). *Apple firmware updates may change functionality results.

Model A1136 - What generation is this please.

It's an iPod Classic, 5th gen. Another way to tell gen:

4th gen = no video support

5th gen = video support, U2 on the box, no search function under music menu

5.5 gen = video support, longer battery, "search" under music menu, Johnny Depp/Red Hot Chili Peppers on the box, brighter screen

Ipod video 5th gen issue with downloading music

You should try using a different USB cable as it's very possible the cable is damaged. If that's not the problem, the logic board is probably defective and you can either replace it if you're comfortable enough opening your iPod or sell the iPod listing the defects on eBay.
