Question about Frigidaire Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

I have a Frigidaire range, model number FGF328GMD. It was converted to LP use when I purchased it. Now I've moved and it needs to be converted back to natural gas use. I've converted the burners on top, but don't know what I need to do to the oven. Please advise. Thank you.

Flip the pin in the gas regulator over from LP to Natural gas:

Then you need to loosen the oven burner orifice counter-clockwise till the flame spreads evenly onto the flame-spreader, but not so the flame goes over it.

Converting from LP back to natural gas. Frigidaire says it is too old to get orifice part numbers. They want me to buy the burner tubes. Ideas other than drilling?

Some ranges have a storage place for the orifices. They may be still in the range. Look near where the gas line connects to the range. NEVER drill an orifice. You will destroy the fine wires that swirl the gas into the burner. You'll get an un controllable flame.

Need to convert nat gas to lp gas have a in the counter cook top

Most manufacturers of gas appliances offer conversion kits to make switching between LP and NG fuels for ranges, dryers, etc. relatively painless.

First, you'll need to collect the manufacturer's name, appliance model and serial numbers. Then, contact your choice of either the place of purchase, or shop the part to authorized parts resellers in your locality or internet for the correct kit and best price. Use only parts designed for use in your particular appliance.

I hope this helps & good luck! Please rate my reply - thanks.

I'm looking for instructions to convert my frigidaire gas range to lp. specifically, orafice and oven instructions.

Pull the range out from the wall and check on the back of the range or also pull out the storage drawer and check behind it. When most ranges are delivered the instructions and the orifices for the LP conversion are tied to the unit. The instructions are folded up so it isn't a large package.

Otherwise order the Frigidaire LP Conversion Kit GRLP2 from a Frigidaire Parts Distributor near you or by calling 1-800-Frigidaire (374-4432). To look up a parts distributor in the US: http://www.frigidaire.com/partsdistributorlocator . Another source is: http://www.partadvantage.com/store/showpart/11082193 but they do not keep the item in stock.

I hope this helps.

I converted my 40'' Figidaire range to LP a few years back when I did not have access to natural gas. Now I need to convert it back. I do not still have the old parts and there seems to be no ''Natural gas...

I am having almost the same problem. Frigidaire told me to replace all 5 mixing tubes, ~$385, yeah right. They don't have the orifices itemized as an individual part, so no-one carries them, just the LP conversion kit. Another repair/parts guy advised me to drill out the orifices. Some other threads/blogs give the diameter to drill. Basically, since natural gas is 0.5 psi, you need a larger hole than your current propane orifices provide. Please speak up if you find out anything, I will try to do the same. Good luck.

Converting a GE Profile Gas Range from LP to natural gas

GE ships gas ranges set for natural gas, with the LP orifices included, usually on a metal tab held with one screw right near the regulator (where the gas connects to the range). If the range was converted to LP, the person who did the conversion was suppose to put the natural gas orifices back in that holder. If they are missing, comment back on the exact model number and I can look up the part number(s) for you.

I cannot seem to get an answer from Amana as to how I convert my natural gas range to LP. According to Amana no conversion kit is needed. Yet they cannot tell me how to convert it. The model number is:...

Gas ranges usually come with LP orifices attatched to them somewhere. In a small envelope or bag taped to the back or in the drawer they should be there. The natural orifices need to be removed and the LP ones installed. If the LP orifices are not installed properly you may get irratic flame and the flame can blacken the bottom of pans this needs to be remedied immediately due to the danger of the carbon monoxide being produced. I found good instructions for LP conversion at this site : www.peerlesspremier.com/faq-rangeconversion.htm

Flames are extremely uneven and high

okay, DO NOT USE THIS STOVE ON LP GAS.

It's not intended to be used with LP gas, because LP gas requires a smaller orifice than natural gas. Call your propane supplier IMMEDIATELY...DO NOT USE THIS STOVE UNTIL IT IS CONVERTED TO LP GAS (if it's even possible)...this is extremely dangerous and you could hurt yourself if you continue to use LP gas on a stove that was designed to run on natural gas.

Frigidaire gas range makes loud whirring sound when oven is set above 250

You don't give a lot of info here (like if the range was converted from natural to LP, or if the burners are OK, or if it is a self clean model and how the broil works, etc) and I can't guess all that, especially because a lot of people post under whatever model pops up when they enter a key word while posting a problem, but,..........
Any range that was professionally installed should have been tested for proper burner and oven operation by the installer before they left. Call the installer back and let them know you are not satisfied.
