Question about Sony Cybershot DSC-T200 Digital Camera

4 Answers

Sony DSC T200 will not take any pictures. When I turn the camera on, the display stays black. You cannot see the image on the display. You can view the menu and the pictures already taken on the memory stick.

I reset the camera by removing the battery and holding down the power button for 1 minute. This did not work. Thanks

I have removed the battery and reset to factory default by removing the battery and holding the power button down for 1 minute. This has not made any difference.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Please check the battery is fully charged.
If you are able to access the Menu, please select Initialize under Settings and Main Settings 1 Menu and press OK. If still the issue persists, perform the power reset by removing the Battery and pressing the power button continuously for one minute. Then, leave the power button and reinsert the Battery.

To reset the Digital Camera by using a RESET button follow these steps---

  1. Locate the RESET button on the camera.
  2. Use a pointed object (like a ballpoint pen) to press and hold the RESET button for 2-3 seconds.
  3. After 2-3 seconds has elapsed, release the RESET button.

To perform a manual power reset follows these steps---

  1. Turn off the camera.
  2. Remove the battery pack.
  3. Remove the button-sized lithium battery.
  4. Allow the camera to remain without power for 30 seconds.
  5. Reinsert the button-sized lithium battery.
  6. Reinsert the battery pack.
  7. Turn on the camera.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

Hi,
There are two possibilities of no picture in camera mode (live view) either failure of ccd imager chip or aperture mechanism is stuck and does not allow scene go to ccd imager chip.
You can check aperture movement by close look in center of camera lens.
Turn On camera in camera mode, check in center of lens and observe aperture opens like an eye, you may need good light to observe it.
If aperture does not open, need to replace lens assembly and if aperture opens, replace ccd imager chip in camera.
Let me know your findings to provide you part number of required part.
Thanks.

OK, Aperture seems OK then ccd imager chip would be defective.

Camera will be apart to check/ replace ccd imager chip, can you apart camera with proper screw driver?

If you can view the Menu of the camera the first thing that you can do here is to Reset or Restore the camera to its default so we can make sure this is not a problem with the camera settings and then after that take the battery out for 30 seconds and put it back and check if the problem is resolve...
