Have you spilled anything on it?

quite often dirt and dust is the problem here, get a can of compressed air and blow around all the keys to remove dust that may impede the microswitches.

Have you tried another keyboard to eliminate the problem from the op system?

Please rate my help++++Thanks for using FIXYA

Are either of your SHIFT keys stuck "down"?
Is CAPS LOCK turned on?

If some keys are not working, the least expensive solution is to replace the keyboard.

Well, you can take a keyboard apart and clean every key with alcohol and a q-tip. just be careful not to lose any of the springs, it probably has some sticky drink spilled in it. Or you can pick up a cheap keyboard at a thrift shop, about $1 to $2.

You have a key board problem. It may just need disassembly and cleaning but more likely it needs a new contact velum.

Probably your print wheel has a bent or broken B spoke. If it is bent you can probably straighten it if it's broken it needs replaced.

When keying in the pin or key # do you have to use upper case and lower case letters

.if you are referring to the security key it depends on how you set it up in the security wizard at the initial setup
Security key can be setup with upper and lower case unless the manufacturer has specific rules for typing in the security key.

Just bought a Smith Corona Electra XT at the Goodwill. Works well, but it does not have a key for the number "1/!". How do I type them or why do they not have the key?

For the numeral "1", use the lower case "L". For the exclamation point, use the single quitation mark ' then backspace once and type a period under it.

Hello Sir,
You might have activated the T9 facility of your phone, which is the mobile dictionary. You can deactivate it by long pressing that key which changes the format of your character case, For Ex. ---  like upper case to lower case that is usually # .
You can try it by long pressing the # key, if it dosent work try * key or 0 key.
