Question about Panasonic DMR-EZ47V DVD Recorder/VCR
Sounds like your firmware has been scrambled for some reason. The firmware is downloaded and then burned to a cd and placed in the drive and the unit will update when the power is cycled. The problem you face is obtaining the firmware code to use. I obtain firmware updates from Panasonic. But as a consumer, I'm not sure if panasonic will provide that to you. I would call Panasonic tech support, explain your problem and ask for a firmware update disk. Or, you could take the unit to a shop and ask for the firmware to be updated.

Chek your settings and make sure it is set to NTSC not PAL. Check the DVD to see if it is PAL format. Good Luck.
