Question about JVC GM-V42UG 42 in. Plasma EDTV

1 Answer

My JVC Plasma 42" screen TV is only 13 mths old but it does not turn on anymore. The blue button (power) comes on steady at first but then, after about 3 seconds, starts to blink and it won't go off -even if you use the remote control or the TV itself to turn it off. The screen will not turn on and it remains dark..

JVC PD35D30 Plasma won't turn on anymore...

Yeah, I was going to suggest power supply issue. Plasmas IMHO, are not worth spending the money to fix. Its the reason why they are so cheap these days in comparison to LCD's. I had a 50" Samsung Plasma that went out on me within 2 years (E Buffer board and XMain problem). Its not about the manufacturer but more about the Plasma technology. Do a few searches about plasma and you will find a lot of problems with these tv's. Id say cut your losses, sell the TV for parts and buy a more reliable technology

I have a jvc plasma...apparantly it got banged while moving and now when i turn it on it has a place that looks like a crack but isnt and then thses weird "plaid" designs....can this be repaired?

No,the Plasma tv screen is cracks and damage.Take an insurance claim against the moving company.Sorry the plama screen is 90% of the tv,even u can buy the plama screen from the tv company to repair. They will sell the Plasma screen to u the same as a new tv.Even might cost more after the new plasma screen it put in.Now the tv only worth as for salvage electronic boards parts only now,not as a whole tv anymore.

My JVC LT-42X579 42 in. LCD TV is only 13 MONTHS old and it suddenly won't turn on anymore. The blue power light comes on -as usual- but after 3 seconds, it will start blinking and it will remain that way...

I contact JVC and was told to first make sure your cable box or whatever you use to normally watch TV is powered on and is ready to work
He told me to unplug TV for 10 seconds at least. Then he had me press and hold down the "MENU and VOLUME DOWN (-)" buttons, at the same time for about 10 seconds. Then after 10 seconds of holding the 2 buttons down, he had me continue to hold the 2 buttons and press and let go of the power button. In other words after 10 seconds of holding down the volume down (-) and menu buttons, add the third button (power) and immediately let go of all 3 buttons, at the same time.
It worked for me instantlynd hopefully it works for you!!!

2. while holding these, press the [power] button on the side of TV (NOT remote)
3. blue light comes ON and stays ON
4. wait 10 seconds then let go of [menu] and [vol-]
5. wait another 30 seconds and some type of picture should appear

This is usually caused by an over voltage on one of the panel voltages, if you open up the set and look at the panel you will find a sticker with the panel voltages on it, if you adjust the VS voltage down about 10 volts it will go away, if it doesn't the adjust the Vscan voltage down about 5-10 volt
