Question about Husqvarna Forest & Garden No.967012396 345 16" Gas Chain Saw

I've owned a 357 xp for 3 yrs now and my carb seems really gummed up the dealer says I need to buy a new carb but can I not just get a carb kit. The saw runs good till warm then once you let go on the throttle it's like the saw leans right out and stalls.

I just had my 15 month old 357xp into the dealer for a week. It had the same issues as yours.i had a walbro carb on it and they replaced the car with a walbro from 2 other new 357s and no good. finally the company told them not to use a carb from the new saws but to use a replacement carb which is a zama. it ran perfect with the zama. the dealer thinks husky is having problems with the walbro's but doesnt want to admit it due to having to do a recall. go in, tell them what you know and request consideration for free replacement. they might do it to keep you quiet. for more info!

One carburetor is fed by the other carburetor. There is probably some blockage in the crossover pipe between the carburetors. You will probably have to take the carburetor rack off and split the carburetors apart to get proper access to the crossover tube, unless you can figure out how to clean out the crossover with out separation. You will need to replace the crossover pipe o-rings if you split the rack. They are only available in expensive Honda carburetor gasket kits. You may be able to purchase the o-rings separately out of a K&L Supply carburetor o-ring kit if your local dealer has one. Other wise an auto store may be able to match up the fuel proof o-rings.

your carb needs to be cleaned/rebuilt,the jets are clogged from the old fuel,if the fuel that was in the tank had a really bad smell, then the fuel is bad,and what was in the tank is also inside of carb.(carb kit).

Sounds like the diaphragms in the carburetor have gotten dry and won't flex anymore. Install a new kit in the carb and recalibrate the screws. You should be good to go.

The carb is an "all position" type and shouldn't be the problem.

Check and clean/replace the fuel filter in the tank. Dirty or old gas, sawdust and/or water etc. settle on the bottom of the tank; and when the saw is turned over will plug the filter, causing the symptoms you discribe.

It is possible, if you used old gas(3 to 6 months) that small varnish particles have gotten through the fuel filter and have pluged the fine screen in the carb(located under the diaphram).

My carbbys keep cuttin not wanting to idle

most likely problem will be the slow speed idle jets and airway's. you can try stripping and cleaning with a good quality carb cleaner and a compressor to blow through the jets, but this does not always work as modern fuels tend gum up really quick, the best way to get them clean is to have them sonically cleaned, i would also buy a service kit for each carb and reset the floats to spec and possible add a dynojet kit and new set of spark plugs,( some new coil packs would also give it a new lease of life)

hello, usually when gas sets in carb for a long time it turns into a varnish, you will have to take carb apart and clean all jets out, even the fuel pump may be clogged up, you will probably have to rebuild carb, unless you have access to air line to blow any and all jets, pretty much all passage ways, power jets, in other words you have a carb problem, you may need a new one, unless you have a strong solvent, that will break away any varnish or gum up.

First thing that I would do is a compression test. Go to you local auto part store and tell them you need to buy a compression gauge. It should come in a kit that has a gauge, hose and adapters. Remove all the spark plugs. On the cylinder that you think isnt running screw the adapter and hose into the spark plug hole then hook the gauge to the hose. Once done crack the motor over buy pressing the start button and watch the gauge. If there is good compression the gauge will build up pressure and stay up. If the compression is bad the gauge will eather go up and fall or not go up at all...after that give send me an email and I can tell you where to go from

Have a Poulan Gas Powered Chain Saw, I haven't started in 10 yrs.

check that plug is getting spark (remove plug, w/ cap attached hold tip of plug on cooling fin. pull starter rope, should see spark). if not receiving gas check filter in tank, if ok procede to carb possibly add a bit of starter fluid.

Getting a fuel dump

Sounds like you need to clean the carbs out, as they are probably gummed/varnished badly after sitting for 2 years.
