Sound issue when i am receiving a call the voice of the speaker is grating, not clear anymore

I don't think there is any solution to this you must contact the seller or any other who can correct the speaker because i think the problem is in speakers or you can slow down the voice that might work for you

Nuvi 2555mt lost voice

First, do you hear beeps when you press a selection on the screen? If yes, then your speaker is OK and the audio circuits are OK in the unit. Make sure that you have a voice selected in the voice menu. Some units have an audio mixer screen and provide different volume settings for navigation (voice) and system (beeps). maybe the volume for the voice (navigation) is set to off. If you don't hear any beeps when you touch the screen AND you don't hear a voice, make sure that the sound isn't set to be muted. If the sound isn't muted, you may have a defective speaker. No Sound Issue on the Garmin Nuvi Series

I've seen many posts of "No Sound" or "Garbled Sound" for the Garmin Nuvi Series. This is a common problem with the Nuvi.

In order to troubleshoot this problem, we need to determine if it's a hardware or software issue or a setting issue.

No Sound:

1. Try the obvious. Is your volume setting turned up?

2. Is the sound muted with the mute button?

3. If your Nuvi has a FM transmitter, is it selected to "FM" or "Speaker"? The "FM" setting will mute the internal speaker. Setting it to "Speaker" will send sound to the speaker.

Garbled Sound:

1. Does the sound seem to be better at lower volume settings?

If you still can't hear audio or if the sound is garbled, then we now have to determine if the internal speaker is defective. The easiest way to do this is:

1. Plug a set of headphones into the headphone jack. Now try listening to the sound. Listen for the touchscreen beeps, MP3 audio, voice directions, etc. Try adjusting the volume using the headphones. If you can hear sound through the headphones and it's clear and not garbled, then your internal speaker is defective.

The headphone jack is not only a jack but it's also a switch. When you plug in your headphones, the audio amplifier of your Nuvi is switched from the internal speaker to the headphone jack. When you unplug the headphones, your Nuvi's audio amplifier is reconnected to the internal speaker.

Now, if you can't hear audio through either the internal speaker or the headphone jack, you may have a different problem.

1. The internal audio amplifier (hardware) is defective.
2. There is a software problem. You could try resetting your Nuvi with the reset button or perform a factory reset. The software problem is more likely if you can hear MP3 audio or touch screen beeps but not speech.

The internal speaker has a voice coil. The voice coil is nothing more than a thin piece of long wire, wrapped around a magnet, numerous times. If you can't hear any sound, it is very likely that this coil is "open"; meaning that the wire has broken inside. If the sound is garbled, this is an indication that the speaker is mechanically defective and not reproducing the sound as it should. The speaker has a "diaphram" that moves in and out as it reproduces sound. If the diaphram has been damaged, it can't move in or out like it should and reproduce the sound clearly. There is also a possiblity that the voice coil has shorted windings, meaning that instead of it being a long piece of wire, it's now shorted to its adjacent windings and is electrically shorter now. Again, this can impact the reproduction of sound.

So, why did your speaker go bad?

1. It's possible it was defect in the manufacturing process and failed prematurely.
2. You might have had the volume up too high. I recommend using the lowest volume level possible. High volume levels put greater stress on the diaphram and may overheat the voice coil.
3. A speaker is an electro-mechanical device. It's subject to being damaged if you happen to drop or jar your Nuvi and/or operate it outside of its normal operating parameters.

What's the Next Step?

If your Nuvi is under warranty, I strongly suggest that you contact the manufacturer and tell them what happened. Tell them all of the steps you have gone through to confirm that the speaker is defective. If the warranty is still in effect, they should repair or replace your Nuvi.

If your Nuvi is out of warranty, try calling the manufacturer anyway. You have nothing to lose. Maybe they will replace it anyway.

If you have no sucess with the manufacturer, you will need to take your Nuvi to someone who is qualified in repairing your Nuvi.

I have got Dell N4030 recently. I am doing gmail voice/video chat. I am receiving the voice from other end very clearly, however, my voice is not at all clear at other end. There is so much noise on other...

First restart your machine. then find out if your microphone and speakers are working perfectly.
if the problem persist then you can update the sound drivers at the computer management.

I have a Onkyo TX-8222 receiver. Sound is ok for music but voices are very low. When two voices, one is very clear abd the other very low. What is the problem ?

You don't say what source(s) are affected. I'm guessing TV or Cable-TV is the problem because music with vocals has voices and you say it sounds ok. Your speakers have no clue whether a sound is a voice or music so that lets THEM out and your receiver doesn't know or care either.

In the modern multichannel world it's usually assumed your electronics are multichannel. This receiver is old-school stereo.

The Center channel is usually where voices are found but some systems (like yours) don't have a Center speaker so they have to be configured to share the Center duty with the front left and Right speakers.This isn't possible or even normally necessary in your case. WYSIWYG

The audio coming in from 'wherever' should be correctly mixed to 2-channels at the source or you'll probably be missing something. I'd look higher up the audio food chain for where the voices are being attentuated. If a cable box is involved I'd look at its audio settings regarding stereo mix-down

Wait, I just had an inspiring thought. Centered voices being mono in nature would partially cancel out if your two speakers were out of 'phase' with each other. Bass would also suffer. Make sure your two speakers are wired identically regarding the red and black (or plus and minus) conductors. If turning the Balance control fully to one side makes bass of voices sound louder you probably have a phase mismatch. Reverse the wiring on either speaker to match the other. There is no absolute right or wrong for phasing as long as they're all the same.

No sound from center channel

If you have checked the speaker and wiring. Check the setup, the center channel could be off or it's not in a surround mode.
When playing a DVD through the receiver are the voices heard clearly in the front speakers? if so the center channel is turned off.

Sound cuts out

No, this sounds like a speaker problem to me.
It sounds like the voice coils in your speaker(s) have been fried.
What happens is the part that is burnt does not funtion, but as you increase the volume/voltage the speaker "jumps" foward to a section of voice coil that is not as damaged.
Check your speakers!

I am unable to hear sound when i make call or receive call in normal mode.

Hi everyone, after spending sometime scouring the internet to no avail in order to fix this problem it suddenly occurred to me that the little holes in the earpiece may have become blocked from sitting around in my pocket. I have carefully cleaned all three of them with a pin and Hey Presto I can hear fine again without going on loudspeaker. Rgds Bill

Speaker not working?

no always the the voice speaker is located to the front of the phone but the song/ringer speaker is located to the back of the phone so you will have to take the phone to a mobile service center and have them replaced the speaker.

This is a common problem as the GPS's bake in the sun and bounce around. The cone on your speaker is likely displaced and will need to be brought in for reconnection. It is also a problem on radar detectors along with garbled voice along with NO voice... Hope this helps!!!
