Question about Brother Multi-Function Center MFC-240C All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Printer was printing correctly - had a paper jam and in order to see the problem, I turned the printer on an angle (45 degree angle), and once I got the paper out, everything is working correctly except that the printer is not printing completely. There are lines that are only getting 1/2 way printed, and some are wiped out completely. I have taken the cartridges out and given them a shake, but the only thing that happened was that the printing got darker. Please Help!!

Sounds to me like the headsre out of alignment. it is possible that you have skewed the head when pulling out the paper jam,. Usw the print queue and go to maintenance and run head realignment and then doa nozzle test print.; Thanks for using FIXYA

  1. Turn the printer off and unplug the printer from the A/C outlet.

When I print there is a 45 degree fold over on top right

Check out all the rollers for jammed pieces of paper and loose dust. Clean them off carefully with a little rubbing alcohol.

I inserted a paper while printing, and it jammed. I caanot turn off the printer, and I cannot eject the paper that jammed.

Hello.
Unplug the printer from the power, open all the covers and remove the jam. It will take some strength to get the paper out, but once you have plug it into the wall and it should work correctly.

Will not print - paper jams - when open the back cover paper comes out on its own

Remove the paper from behind the back cover, then remove the paper tray and check for any other jammed paper. Once you've removed it all, turn the printer off then back on. Before printing again, take the paper out of the tray, fan it out, and flip it over so it's upside-down. (Paper curl and static can cause jams, and turning the paper over can often correct those issues.)

Does it still jam?

Won't print. Message says "carriage jam. Open door and clear carriage jam." There is no jammed paper or anything visible. Put door back on, still won't print. have turned on and off, and reinserted paper....

It is giving carriage jam not a paper jam the carriage is the part which carries cartridges on it. It seems your carriage is jam and can't move left and right so open the door and try to move your carriage with the help of rubber roller which moves your printer. Also clean the steel road on which the carriage moves just check at the corner of cartridge carriage if any paper bit is stuck or excessive paper dust has jammed it. If this does not solves your problem kindly comment back.

When going to print paper is pulled in angled and jams thanks

i do not know the model of the printer that you have, but the most common problem is that you have something stuck in the area where the paper is not being pulled in. You might have a small piece of paper jammed in there or some foreign object. It is also possible your sensor is jammed and the paper is hitting it.

Lastly, if you have 2 pickup rollers (depends on the printer that you have), one could be worn out.

thanks adi

When i turn my printer on the light flashes green once and then orange 5 times. cannot get past this stage - any ideas?

Here are all the flashing explanations:

Two flashes: Out of paper or paper feed error

Reload the paper correctly and press the RESUME/CANCEL button.

Three flashes: Paper jam

If paper has jammed in the printer, clear the jam, reload the paper in the printer correctly and press the RESUME/CANCEL button.

See Paper Jams

Four flashes: Empty ink tank

If you press the RESUME/CANCEL button, it will continue printing with an empty ink tank. After printing is finished, replace the ink tank immediately. If you continue printing with an empty ink tank, it may cause damage to your printer.

Refer to your Quick Start Guide for instructions on how to replace an ink tank.

Five flashes: No print head installed/Defective print head

Install the print head. Also, ensure that the protective tape has been removed.

If reinstalling the print head does not solve the problem, replace it with a new one. Contact the Customer Care Center.

Eight flashes: Waste ink tank almost full

The printer has a built-in waste ink tank for the ink used during print head cleaning. Eight flashes indicates that the waste ink tank is nearly full. Press the RESUME/CANCEL button to cancel the error so you can continue printing. Before the waste ink tank becomes completely full, contact the Customer Care Center.

My printer has started feeding the paper through on an angle which is causing ti to jam in the right hand side. The paper therefore does not feed through and printing doesn't happen. My guess is that one...

Clean the pickup rollers with a damp cloth, and dry the rollers with a clean part of the cloth. If it is still feeding paper in scew, then there could be something stuck inside the printer.
